I See QB Rumors (2012 QB Thread: The Sixth Sense)

To get the rumor mill rolling again, I heard Bob Kravitz of The Indianapolis Star(the guy who did the Peyton Manning interview where he revealed he was unhappy w/ the Colts and paved the way for his release) on the Lebatard Show, and Kravitz gave the Skins a 25% chance of signing Peyton once he's released. He said DC was intriguing to Peyton because he remembers what Shanahan was able to with Elway late in his career, and of course, Peyton wants to go out on top with one last Super Bowl victory. Kravitz said there was an equal chance for us, the Cardinals, the Seahawks, and the Dolphins to land Peyton.

I don't get how any of those teams make sense, and the Redskins least of all. Definitely agree if Manning continues to play it's with the sole purpose of winning more championships. San Fran, Baltimore or the Jets are the teams closest to winning a SB w/ better play from their QB i.e. P Manning. More importantly he could walk into any of those (three) situations and model the offensive scheme just how he wants it.

But again it makes no sense for Manning to consider the Redskins. He, for all practical purposes, is the offensive coordinator and QB of his team. Why play under arguably the most limited HC/OC duo in terms of versatility and vision? Manning's not going "learn" a losing, esoteric scheme and thereby give up on what he's been doing for over a decade...he's going to do what he does best: shred defenses, often in a no-huddle offense calling plays at the line. He's got more football intelligence than Mike and Kyle combined, what an awkward situation it would be to play for them!!!

And again I do apologize and understand you are passing info you are learning. I'll let you say I told you so until your happy if any of it comes to pass. I would never have thought we would be interested in McNabb either and when the media picked up on it I wanted to cry because I expected a huge let down due to his diminishing skills and injuries. I figure if your right I'll cry again. I'm sure the team has explored every avenue to trade up and explored what it might take just to keep their options open. I just don't see them making the trade.

Well, for the record, in my original post I do say that I think they'll fall short in their attempt. But that's my own personal opinion.

Anyhow, let's move on

Now back to the QB topic: your a HC, you have a scheme in which you expect your QB to sit in the pocket 85% of the time and stand in the shotgun 10% of the time, and only run/scramble for yardage if flushed out of the pocket, and you have no intention of using the "Wild Cat", why would you want RGIII? This coaching staff is not going to take him if does not fit the system. Luck fits this system better then RGIII.

Bradford- again your a HC, why would you want a player who has not lived up to his #1 status, does not make good decisions all the time, on top of that your going to be expected to give up and risk more by trading your 1st round draft pick who has lived up to his expectations and just came off a half decent year...plus throw in draft picks? It should be the Rams who should be throwing draft picks our way in order to balance out their QB who has not shown he is a 1st round talent. No deal.

Peyton- will probably be finished or go elsewhere.

Flynn- will probably go to Miami to start and be with his Coach.

RGIII- is not our system of QB and will cost too much to move up.

Luck- will be interesting g to see if the Colts don't take him.

My best guess is the Skins will pick up a different FA QB, and try to trade back for more picks. I'm hedging my bets that any one of the other QBs gets drafted by the Skins and I'd guess Weeden only cause KS likes him, knows him now, and has worked well with him. I hope FA wise I'm wrong. I think Weeden will be fine and uh the team time to find that "young" QB everyone wants to have as our franchise QB.

1. Bradford was shanahans pick a few years ago, but we didn't have any ammo to move up to get him. A lot of people believe that Bradford hasn't had a good supporting cast in St. Louis. He showed lots of promise his rookie year, then fell off this year. A two year guy who played with an injury depleted team. His WR's had lots of drops, ran wrong routes, and had balls bounce off their hands and cause picks. When you had the OL and WR's that Bradford had, and Steven Jackson is hurt, you got to make plays and in his case, force things.

2. Our system QB requires a guy who is able to bootleg well. Yes Luck is the better QB, but RG3 is more athletic, and is just as accurate. The only major difference between the 2 is the spread offense griffin was in and the pro style offense luck was in. We have been linked to RG3 and he would fit our system.

3. How do you know Kyle Shanahan likes him? I'm sure publicly Kyle like all the South QB's he had.

The Redskins need to draft two rookie QBs. We are very unset at the quarterback position. We not only need to upgrade the starting QB position, but the back up position as well. I like Jonathan Crompton, as he has developed from off of the practice squad all of last season. But don't be surprise if the Redskins draft both RG3 and Weeden in April. If not that, then RG3 and Kellen Moore.

With our roster structure being the way it is, we can't afford to do that. One of our QB's will be a FA signing.

I would be inclined to say probably not. I know of two key decision makers who don't like the idea. That's not to say they can't be convinced otherwise but right now I'd say no

All the Manning chatter may soon be irrelevant. John Clayton, Gil Brandt and Tony Dungy are all saying it's highly likely he soon retires.

Beginning to look like Rob Lowe isn't a complete idiot. :silly:

We are in a 3-4 now.

I did mean a 4-3. Sorry for the typo.

1- I agree he didn't have an excellent supporting cast, but the problem is we kinda are in the same situation. The same reason I don't want Sanchez is the same reason I don't want Bradford, could they have hit their peak? are they damaged goods? will they be any better in this system or more of the same?

2- I'd almost rather have the kid on the North team who had to make some thing out of the bad snaps. He showed he could roll out and if had to run for the yardage. Taking RGIII to me would be like purchasing a race horse and binding one leg and using him for jumping instead of running races. If this team is not going to use RGIII as a race horse or for his skills then we are just hindering ourselves and should look into a different QB.

3- There are rumors that they met alone and worked on specific things like footwork, throwing motion, and god knows what else. Why wouldn't KS bring the other South QB's along especially since Foles needs footwork help? Otherwise I have no answer.

But if there is no other option then I'd say lets get Weeden for now and Foles if possible for future development.
