If we pass on Griffin at #6 then Mike Shanahan is officially a freakin moron.
Not exactly... Even Irsay said that this QB duo can be compared to Manning & Leaf draft. Everybody thought Leaf is destined to stardom, just like Manning was.. If Shanny passes Griffin on through draft and then Griffin turned out to be a bust - Shanny will be genius. It is better to wait and see what Shanny's plan is and how it turns out before we call for his head, or name calling in this situation.

I have been "tuning in" to the Warpath for nearly 10+ years though not posting. This marks my first post.
I'm pretty excited about the prospect of picking up Bradford.
...I recall that Snyder was really keen on Bradford his draft year, and that the Skins brought him in to work him out...but as I recall he was simply ...out of reach.
Anybody else seem to remember how keen Snyder seemed to be about Bradford?
I know Snyder and Shanny were the only other team, besides Rams, to entertain Bradford at a pre-draft dinner. They apparently all hit if off according to Bradford.
BTW - been "tuning in" here as well and this thread tipped the scales for me too! Now, if I could only get to 10 posts so I can include links...LOL

Welcome aboard! Please take this time to fasten your seat belt and make sure your seat is back and folding trays are in their full upright position at all times. Enjoy your flight. :cool-smil
I don't recall hearing a peep from Snyder in regards to Bradford. Shanahan on the other hand must have loved Bradford to have wanted to jump from #4 to #1.

Interesting idea and I think a good one. Kyle Shannahan was on the Andy Sheehan/Thom Loverro show in DC on Friday and he said there was no way the Skins were going to give away the farm to get a QB. He said QB was one of many holes the Skins need to fill. It sounds like he thinks the team really needs a few playmakers. His most telling stat to this point was the number of passes thrown by the QB and run in for a TD was zero.
Well.. we had two.. Helu screen/hurdle.. and Banks to Moss.. then again Banks isn't a "QB" and Helu isn't a WR... either way it's sad though

There are plenty of constants that aren't QB play within this organization. And really, the years of bad QB play over the last 20 years were pretty much (with obvious exception to 2004) contained to the Schottenheimer/Spurrier years, and now the Shanahan years. You've had your bad quarterbacks: Shuler, Wuerffel, that one Ramsey/Brunell season, Grossman, Beck. But it's not like the quarterback play has been consistently bad. That doesn't hold up under scrutiny. Turner and Gibbs/Zorn didn't have any issue solving the quarterback position. In fact, the coaches who did have trouble are infamous for their bad QB decisions in Washington.
Only two franchises in the last 20 hasn't endured a period of bad quarterback play: New England, who went right from Bledsoe to Brady (and even Brady had a lean year or two), and Green Bay, who went right from Favre to Rodgers. For 30 other teams, they've had the same kind of issue with quarterabcks the Redskins have had with quarterbacks. The Cowboys hardly went right from Aikman to Romo, they suffered through Chad Hutchinson, Quincy Carter, Vinny Testaverde, Drew Henson, and Bledsoe. Teams like the Lions and Bears have actually had it far worse.
Complaining about the QB situation is old and tiring. Sure, Shanahan gutted the roster and hasn't offered a viable solution. I get that. I have been critical of him for doing that. It's not like there aren't guys out there who can play the position well who can be acquired easily if Andrew Luck proves too elusive. It's obvious to me at least that there are much bigger issues with this organization that were causing us many losses even before Shanahan got here. Those issues have not been fixed.
Your opinion is usually spot on or at the very least plausible.
But you think saying the Redskins' quarterback situation has been abysmal the last two decades doesn't hold up under scrutiny?
Bwahahahahahaaa!

To get the rumor mill rolling again, I heard Bob Kravitz of The Indianapolis Star(the guy who did the Peyton Manning interview where he revealed he was unhappy w/ the Colts and paved the way for his release) on the Lebatard Show, and Kravitz gave the Skins a 25% chance of signing Peyton once he's released. He said DC was intriguing to Peyton because he remembers what Shanahan was able to with Elway late in his career, and of course, Peyton wants to go out on top with one last Super Bowl victory. Kravitz said there was an equal chance for us, the Cardinals, the Seahawks, and the Dolphins to land Peyton.
My math makes that 20%

Smoot.. speaking on Peyton Manning. If he is healthy would there be interest from the Redskins?
Could he be a guarded secret around the franchise?

I would be inclined to say probably not. I know of two key decision makers who don't like the idea. That's not to say they can't be convinced otherwise but right now I'd say no
And welcome to the long time readers, first time posters

Smoot question: I know Shanny doesn't draft RBs first round but how does he feel about Trent Richardson?
