If they are looking to trade Gardner, it means they believe they can do better in the draft. I think what we will see is Gardner goes, we try to pick up a receiver through free agency, if we don't, the 9th pick goes to a receiver.
I have a feeling that Gibbs may be very picky in the free agent market given that the only receivers that may be out there are going to be number 2 guys. He has that now.
I'm looking for Jacobs to move to the number two spot (pending) and Gibbs drafts a WR in the first and hopes for a homerun.
Personally, Coles, Thrash, Jacobs, Cooley provide some pretty good options for the passing game. I can see why Gardner is easily the odd man out.

Just a couple of comments:

If Gardner is "as good as gone" I'd like to remind him not to let the door hit ya where the Good Lord split ya.

Winskins:

If a team trades for Gardner because they don't have a big play receiver, they will still be without a big play receiver.

BigC:

Prior to Feeley going to Miami, he had four starts in the NFL and had won all of them. That's how he commanded a 2nd round pick from a team in need of a QB. How many games has Gardner won by his feats on the field. I recall one back in his rookie year when he caught a bomb to beat somebody in the final minutes or maybe in OT. Was it the Chargers? Since then?

Maybe the Redskins can trade Gardner for a solid Center. I am wondering if the Skins will try to develop Royal at the tight end position or if they'll aggressively go after someone else and let him go?

The only thing with our receivers: I still think we need a fast receiver that has good hands and can get open downfield. Jacobbs might be that guy...I don't know....

The asking price is a 2nd rounder, that's a good starting point, but I'm sure they'll settle for a 3rd if it comes down to it.

im hoping 2nd but i do think it will be a 3rd. and that isnt to bad, im thinking jason brown from UNC will be on the board. he's a center for the tarheels and rated very high in that position for the draft, some even have him #1 overall center. im hoping if we do get a 3rd for gardner that jason brown will be available for that pick we recieve

Actually it was his Roookie year the 6th game of the Schotty era when they were 0-5 Arringotn had a pick ran back for a td. It was against Carolina. Gardner had like 208 yds. Still his career high. He caught the pass for a TD to tie the game and make it go to OT. Then Caught a Bomb not quite enough for the TD to like the 2 or 3 yd line. then we went ahead and Kicked the FG for the win in OT.

Correct me if Im wrong on this please.
Thank yall

Anybody heard any updates on Smoot? If there has been a post about it and I didn't see it, I apologize. I've been out of town.

I agree we have effectivly drafted a WR with our top picks so many times in the last few years Gardner, Coles and Taylor. We have other needs I would rather trade down and pick up a DE like Pollock or Spears. We have not spent a pick on the DL for too long and need some real tallent there . Williams schems have disgised the weakness before but opposing teams have a year load of tapes to disect those schemes .

As for Gardner I think we will struggle to get a good third simply because I don't think their are enough teams with the need for a solid No.2 ... Only the Chargers and Bucs seem to be in the frame right now.

The only effectivly drafted WR by the Redskins out of the three listed are Gardner and Taylor, Coles was made a Redskin when the JETS failed to match the offer sheet, Coles was a RFA when we got him.

No updates on Smoot and there probably won't be until we hear he's leaving town.
