Not to hear it from his former coaches and teammates.

I always heard kind of a.....mixed bag about DG's personality. Some good....some not. But....all my info is 3rd, 4th, 5th hand at best.

Yep, and it's often the great players that don't even make the best coaches.

In fact, many of the greatest players have turned out to be less than average as a coach...

Yes, Mike Ditka was a great player and he had a good run with the Bears. His time with the Saints - - not so much.

Yes, Bud Grant was a good player and had a good time as coach in Minnesota.

Yes, Dick LeBeau was a hell of a player and is a damned good DC.

Mike Munchak's first year as a HC has been promising...

Tbh, out of our 3 NFCE rivals, I dislike the Giants the least. It's just easier to hate on them when they're in the SB for the 2nd time in 4 years, and people are talking about Eli as a potential HOFer if he wins his second ring.

To be an All Pro don't you have to actually be on the field and playing though? Oh... unless your refering to him being an All Pro Example as to what not to do then I guess you have a point.

Um never, which is my point. I didn't think McCardell would do all that well with whatever coaching he had prior to the Skins if any at all, I'm not holding my breath on Ike either. But one would have to think if any of them (players) had a chance it would be Rice over any of them because all he would have to do is run them through his work out routine which was supposed to be tough and made him and a few others who worked out with him better.

At least Rice stands out. As another poster said Ike really doesn't stand out.

Yes he was self centered and he would only do interviews if he could announce his organization but people fail to remember he took smoot one summer and coached him and smoot was a beast after. He took bailey and did the same. So I have no doubts DG would be a great coach.

So you choose Rice over Ike because of Rice's workout routine, and pretty much just want to cast aside Ike's coaching experience? I see

Incidentally, I didn't know this but apparently Ike was choice #2 behind Keenan a couple of years ago. Some say he was actually the first choice but turned down the offer

If DG really wanted to be a coach, he would go about it the right way and work his way up through the ranks. Some doubt whether he would really be interested in the coaching grind, and if his ego would allow him to start at the bottom and work his way up.
