This is interesting, Morris took over as defensive backs coach in 2007 for the Bucs. The previous year they were ranked 19th in passing defense, when Morris took over they were the #1 passing defense, they were also top 10 in opponent's QB rating, and I top 10 in fewest TDs allowed. Granted, this was still Monte Kiffin's defense, but still this is encouraging.I'm always skeptical of NFL YPG rankings, but I checked with my trusted source and that number in 2007 is legit.

An excellent defensive season against all wide receivers. Mediocre performance by the Tampa DL that year as well:

2007 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Starters, Roster, & Players - Pro-Football-Reference.com (http://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/tam/2007_roster.htm)

LCB Ronde Barber 32 10 16 1.0 sacks, 2 interceptions, 2 fumbles recovered
RCB Phillip Buchanon 27 5 13 0.0 sacks, 3 interceptions, 0 fumbles recovered
SS Jermaine Phillips 28 5 15 1.0 sacks, 4 interceptions, 0 fumbles recovered
FS Tanard Jackson 22 Rook 16 0.0 sacks, 2 interceptions, 3 fumbles recovered

That D also had CB Brian Kelly, CB Sammy Davis, and CB Will Allen (not the Giants guy). A talented, deep group to be sure.

I am also not a big fan of YPGs, which is why I liked the opponents QB rating ranking and TDs allowed. Glad to see the stats about the Ds performance against WRs. Looks like Morris did a good job with that DBs unit, hopefully he can work his magic with our unit.

Yeah I mean shit gets old I literally don't know what I would do if we won 12 games next year , I probably wouldn't believe it

Cry, those 12 wins include Wild Card, Divisional, and Conference Championships right.

Super fan of this. I liked the job he did in TB...not sure what happened this past year but he is a young guy who players like and has some good leadership skills.

I like the guy but one of the knocks was that his players quit on him this year.

Different voice is needed sometimes. The secondary did struggle this year, but previous years I wouldnt put them as a weakness on the team. Rogers loss was much more of an impact than people thought along with injuries to PB (who?), Laron, OJ and the non development of Barnes all played a part. Is a talent infusion needed? Absolutely.

Morris is a no risk hire who can be nothing but a positive IMO.

With Shanny in charge thats not happening. If anything, it should be a good situation for Morris to learn how to control a locker room. Any inkling Shanny detects of quitting would be addressed immediately.
