Sean"Big Hurt"Taylor 01-27-2005, 07:01 PM I was wondering what do you guys think of us first of all trading downward for more picks and drafting Kevin Everett out of Miami. I was wondering when someone wwas going to mention him. Let me tell you this that he is taller, bigger and faster than his portege Kellen Winslow. I believe he will be a steal for us and fortunately for us he will be available in the 2nd round. He can catch, block, a surperb athlete and most importantly he's from the U. I believe with him at TE, Cooley at H-Back, Coles and hopefully the signing of Burress at the WR positions, Portis will have plenty of room to his thing with our defense we will no doubt be in the mix with philly. I forgot use other draft picks with get from trading downward and the trading of Gardner, McCants we should have plenty of youthful talent to guide us in the near future.
PSUskinsfan11 01-27-2005, 07:21 PM I would vote against that just because Cooley played great for a rookie even though he was the H-back and Royal started to come along. Plus, I think our needs at DE, WR, and maybe CB depending on if Smoot stays are more important than another. If we pick up another TE I think we would be looking for more of a blocker then a reciever. Also, Everett was injury prone at Miami and thats why he didn't do the same things Winslow did.

randyredskin 01-27-2005, 08:26 PM If the skins decide to draft a TE, the one and only choice should be Heath Miller from UVA. The guy is a beast, great hands and a very good blocker. :thumb: :thumb:

Could not agree more but forget the TE, has anyone seen any of the senior bowl practices??? Marcus Spears is dominating that is who we should take. We might even be able to trade down to the mid teens early 20's to get him.

Unfortunately, we traded our #2 pick away.
TheMalcolmConnection 01-27-2005, 09:16 PM Miller IS a beast, but I think we could address more pressing needs with the #1 pick, which we obviously would have to use to nab him.
DCopper04 01-27-2005, 11:06 PM I'm not sure if we should take a TE with a high pick. I know that coming into last season, with all the speculation that the Skins would take Kellen Winslow, I expected the TE to be a big part of the offense. Cooley got a lot of looks coming out of the backfield as the H-back, but as for Rasby and Royal, they didn't do a whole lot for the bulk fo the season. If that is the production that a TE is expected to get in Gibbs' system, then it would be foolish to spend a high draft choice on one, regardless of how good he may be. We have other needs that are more pressing.

wait a second...somethign is wrong here...I double checked and I didnt start this thread.
If you want to add speed at receiver, and get a TE, what we need to do is trade down in the first round, pick up a second rounder. Use our later first round pick ( late in the first round, so we would get a second, and mabye a third too) and draft Roscoe Parish out of the U. Hes blazing fast, could play special teams for us too. Whenever teams refused to kick teh ball to hester, they would put in parish. I think he ended up with as many special teams tds as he had. He can definitly stretch the field. And then we can use second round pick or the third to pick up everett. I dont think he is faster than winslow, but hes definitly a stud athlete. He got hurt this year so we could get him in the 3rd round. Do you even know if hes declared for the draft? I assumed he was acutally going to play for the canes again next year and increase his draft stock.
What I would rather have us do is draft antrel rolle. I really really really really dont want him going ot the cowboys, and theres a good chance they will take him. Even if smoot stays, nothign wrong with having a stud rookie to groom to replace springs, or if someone gets injured. hell he could play with taylor at safety, and that would just be the most pimp secondary in the nfl
Daseal 01-28-2005, 12:00 AM Roscoe is too small and certainly NOT what we need at receiver. I even prefer the guy (can't remember his name, sounds generic) out of Auburn over Rolle. Rolle has always looked like a Kobe/Shaq type bitching to the officials about calls all the time. Granted, I've had limited exposure to it, but the 2 or 3 Miami games I saw he complained. Rolle is great, and wouldn't be against it, I just think the Auburn guy played very well and would be a better fit.
Drafting a DB in the first seems a bit overkill since we have some pressing needs on the other side of the ball. I often feel a top 10 pick you should take the biggest talent there, but I don't feel Rolle will be that person. I'm sorry, skinsncanes, but Miami lost all their players last year worth a top 10 pick.
