The Redskins should just name Andrew Luck their starter for the 2012 season, and then just see what happens.

John Beck does not endorse this message.

I thought it was interesting in the Irsay interview yesterday with ESPN that he said they would pick Luck or Griffin. I'm wondering if there is a plan afoot where Manning is healthy so they pick Griffin who may benefit from sitting behind Manning for a couple of yrs and also a plan to do the obvious and draft Luck if Manning is cut.

Scenario that was alluded to may be a deal with St. Louis to go up to get Luck if Griffin is off the board at 1.

i dont see how we could already have an agreement in place with the colts for the #1 overall pick. Even if the colts were open to trading the pick, theyd be fools to do so this far in advance of the draft.

You must mean "Luck-y" then.

If a deal with Indy for Luck is in place, which I doubt because they need a young QB to rebuild around as much as we do, then it could not be announced until the start of the league year in mid-March, at the earliest. I know the article said it would be announced at the Draft. I'm just stating the earliest a trade could be announced.

I certainly hope that we're not going to acquire Peyton Manning in a trade, as great as he is, because his neck injury makes me way too nervous for that.

Well we might not need to trade up too far folks...

Irsay said he knows from personal experience with Peyton Manning (http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/1493/peyton-manning) that if you have a chance to draft a great quarterback first overall you take it. And he sounded like a man who already knows he’s drafting a quarterback and needs to decide only whether that quarterback will be Stanford’s Andrew Luck (http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/6439/andrew-luck) or Baylor’s Robert Griffin III (http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/7406/robert-griffin-iii).

Maybe the Colts take RGIII because his stock rises by, during, and after the combine or maybe their new HC will like RGIII better. Which means Luck will fall... and with all the attention RGIII has been getting because everyone just assumes the Colts will take Luck, I can see the Colts listening to all the talk of RGIII.

This may very well be what will happen. Many people here have speculated that the Rams will take perhaps a WR weapon for Bradford but I could swear I heard that not only do they need a weapon but they will need a Tackle because their's is retiring. I was pretty sure I heard that. they might be thinking that they could let someone like the Skins trade up so they get more picks and yet still get the OL they want in the draft or the next best if there are two pretty close in talent.

"Washington Redskins president of operations Dennis Greene was overheard telling people at a Washington Economic Club luncheon today that a new quarterback has been chosen, 'and fans will be elated,'" Carol Ross Joynt of the Washingtonian relayed. "Greene said the mystery player's name won't be revealed until April, when the NFL draft occurs."

Elated fans, revealed on draft day, sounds like RGIII to me. Possibly Luck as well but RGIII seems much more obtainable at this point. I'm not sure fans would be elated about Ryan Tannehill.

Wouldn't even be pleased much less elated.

There's no inside basis for this, I'm just sayin that a three way trade would make tons of sense:

- We get the 1st Overall from the Colts
- Colts get the 2nd overall from the Rams plus some stuff from us
- Rams get the 6th overall from us plus some stuff from us

That way we pay a fortune but land Luck. Colts would still get RGIII to sit behind Manning. And the Rams, who don't need a QB, cash in on the #2 spot and slide down and stockpile picks.

Seems like it'd make sense for all involved, even though this is all manufactured in my mind.

i just really dont wanna end up giving up picks that we NEED, to try and get solid talent/depth...

i really am high on Nick Foles AZ, but I could deal with Tannenhil... and I'm still hoping that Manning gets cut and we sign him, even if it is for 3 years or 4 till he gets hurt or just hangs it up.. let a kid come in here and learn under one of the best ever. and while he's learning Manning would hopefully have this team competing much better than we are used to.

if No maning. I still say u draft Blackmon if available at 6...

wait and see who falls to u at 6.... i'd even be happy with trading back if we couldnt get someone we need at 6... but get foles/tannenhil later (3) ... we have needs IMO more pressing than GIVING AWAY our draft. Keep Rex as a 2 or 3 or even to start regardless...
i know he's not great but he's not awful either, he at least gives us a chance, and for all we know could improve givin a new deal of 3 years or so, however the circumstance ACTUALLY play out, we will see.

i laugh every time i hear people say i want a top QB, but don't want to give up any picks. i get the part about the skins having a bunch of holes to fill. but this is a QB driven league. and im sick of all the nasty QB play we have had in DC the last 20 years. well i do not want to mortgage the future, i all but want the skins to do what it takes to secure a starting NFL calibre QB. i don't want Flynn, but can understand why the front office would sign him. lets face it, anyone not named Grossman or Beck will be a big improvement
