I know I'd rather be there too. Just messin'... but it does get frustrating to be in the playoffs and go nowhere each year.
As long as Shanahan doesn't coach like Boudreau we'll be fine :D

Maybe the Skins should sign Tim Thomas as QB?

Actually with the recent turn around of the Caps under Dale Hunter I was wondering if the Skins should hire Grimm as Head Coach should the Shanahan experiment prove to be a failure.

I would not trade more than that. In my humble opinion anything more than that is too much for any 1 player. I agree RG3 will most likely be a "franchise qb". What I'm saying is is sign a decent qb free agent then we won't as pressured to sell the farm for 1 player.
Everyone has their price. Some lower then others. I guess I wouldn't have a problem with....
1st round picks of: 2012, 2013
3rd round pick of: 2012
4th round pick of: 2013
This would spread out our draft picks and still allow us to get decent players both this year and next year.
The problem is there are people here who would trade not only their house away but also the furniture inside because they heard the 2012 Corvette will be the best car.
If we as fans and I'll somewhat speak for the coaching staff close our minds to all options then we not only will in the end be dissapointed but will remain a mediocre team. All we as fans want and need is a QB who can get the job done not only for now but for the forseeable future, and to get that we don't need to toss in two years worth of draft picks in hopes one player "might" be worth it. Remember last year at this time Locker was the man. Locker was the #1. Locker was going to take his team to whatever promised land. Did he even get to play this year? I can tell you who did better.... obviously Tebow, and a QB who was not supposed to be drafted until the 3rd or 4rth round (Andy Dalton). Dalton being a QB I said we should take and got laughed at and told he wouldn't amount to anything but camp fodder.
Personally I think we can get a FA like Flynn and also draft a QB to challenge for the starting position. Bring in a couple of decent weapons at WR and this team will do a lot better especially since the running game started coming together at the end of the year.

I said it once and I will even give a link this time.... I don't think MS will throw away everything for just one player.

Talking about trading up to get RGIII.... edit: (Luck) but it sounds like it will cost a mint for RGIII also since other QB's have decided to stay in college.
I followed up with a question about the reports and speculation that it could take three No. 1 picks to trade up to the No. 1 spot and take Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck and asked if he considered that realistic or sensible. He responded with a comparison to the 2002 deal in which the Oakland Raiders got two first-round picks, two second-round picks and cash from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in exchange for head coach Jon Gruden.
MS: I told Jon, 'No offense, but you're not worth that much! And don't go to the place where they're giving up the two No. 1s for you.' I mean, it just handcuffs you.
Finally, I asked if he thought his team was close enough to contending that he could afford to give away a big trove of draft picks for one player he really wanted.
MS: No. In fact that's why, when we went from 10 to 16 [in last year's draft] and we were able to get that extra second-rounder from Jacksonville, we were able to parlay that where we got [Leonard] Hankerson, we got [Roy] Helu and we got [DeJon] Gomes. So by going from 10 to 16, not only did we get Jarvis Jenkins, but we were able to get those three players. And those are three starters for us.

I like to refer to it as not giving away the farm but at the same time being willing to part with a couple of piece of heavy machinery (IE early draft picks). RGIII is a blue chip prospect. An elite QB. With the exception of the 2004 draft with Eli Manning and this year with Andrew Luck I can't really envision another draft over the last 10 years where RGIII wouldn't have been the first QB off the board.
Maybe 2007 where JaMarcus Russell was wowing teams with his workouts but RGIII has just as many physical attributes as Russell if not more. Not to mention he's at least a borderline genius, though I'd venture that given the fact that he graduated high school and college early that he is in fact a certifiable genius with an IQ of at least a 140. Who knows, maybe he could beat Fitzpatrick in an academic decathlon.

Funny. Ok how about next year? we really wouldn't know how RG3 will do or would do especially since Barkley will be entering the draft then and I'm almost positive he was ranked #2 behind Luck this year. I also remember a ton of people here saying we had to do whatever we needed to do to get Barkley.
Also I'm just guessing but I bet the Bengals and Bronco's are totally upset they were not able to pick up a top 5 QB who could be their franchise QB.
