Anyone but RGIII. When I look at the QBs currently in the playoffs I dont see anyone playing RGIIIs style. Its exciting to watch in college but doesnt win in the pros. Get a pro style QB for the pro game.

One of the comparisons for RGIII that is most suited to him is Drew Brees. Same stature, similar arm strength and pocket presence. Don't fall into the lazy comparisons of Mike Vick and a smaller Cam Newton based on his athleticism and other 'obvious' comparables. In the pros he will be more of a Brees/Rodgers type meaning using his legs to extend plays vs. a tuck and run QB.

so here's a Q

Flynn or RG3?

I guess I'd have to say Flynn for two reasons;

1- he knows the WCO
2- he's played a few games and has shown he can play in the NFL.

Flynn is supposed to be a FA so if we could get both Flynn and RGIII that would be ideal. Get a decent FA and trade up, or stay and get him, then take a 2nd round WR would be nice.

Or get Flynn, take a top WR, then get a developmental QB in the second round for the future.

I disagree with that statement slightly. You dont need a QB like Vick, but the QB needs to be able move around. Rogers, Drew Brees, Rothlisberger, Dalton. Most of the QB's have the ability to extend the play and make throws on the run. What RGIII brings is that ability plus the ability to beat you with his legs. Look at Cam Newton. He has been exceptional this season. If you can get a guy that can make all the throws in the pocket as well as out of the pocket plus run like he can, I dont see how you can pass that up. Plus the kid is extremely football smart.

Cam Newton is going to make the Panthers a playoff team year in and year out. They lost so many games because the D couldn't sustain the early game intensity and gave up 4th quarter leads. When they get healthy on D and add some pieces, they will be dangerous.

You dont need a QB that can beat you with his legs, you need a QB who can beat you with accurate passes. A QB does need to be able to move around but that movement is only 2 or 3 steps in any direction. BR cant run a lick but he can move a couple of steps to get away from the heat plus he's a mountain of a man which makes him tough to bring down. Cam's biggest assett is his size and RGIII doesnt have that. Cam played 1 good season but time will tell if he's a Big Ben or a big version of Vick. Until a run style QB wins something in the pros I'll stick with a pocket passer any day.

I can kind of see where you are coming from. Watching the Qbs play yesterday, the biggest thing I noticed is moving around in the pocket and extending plays that way. It's funny that when Rex has plenty of time to throw an no one gets open, he has absolutely no idea what to do and that's where most of his bad plays came from.

But, RGIII isn't just a pure runner. He's got plenty of other strong QB skills, so it won't be just a tuck and run situation. He's going to be able to extend plays in similar ways to pass the ball down the field.

What I'm saying is when you look at the playoff QBs they are pocket passers who can move a bit to avoid the rush. RGIII is a mover who is a semi-accurate passer and that doesnt work in the NFL.

I could see Holmgren falling in love with Flynn. Green Bay would probably prefer he went to the AFC as well. I'd like to see us add 2-3 QBs. 1 free agent and a couple rookies.

I would love that as well. I think we end up drafting our franchise QB in the draft, keeping rex on as his backup, and drafting a guy that Shanahan has scouted out and feels comfortable with in the 6th or 7th round of the draft, hopefully with a pick we acquire by trading down somehow. I also believe that even if we DO acquire RG3 by trading up, we will still somehow come out of this years draft with 10+ prospects. And that is not including UDFA.

This is THE year that Shanahan gets his pieces (QB, depth guys) for the next 7 or 8 years for this franchise. Not saying we wont be players in FA, we will, but I liken the splash to a dive instead of a cannonball, maybe one marquee sign via FA, and I see that being either WR or secondary.

I'd take orton with a qb like tannehill to groom. If not then I'd go flynn or RG3

Noooo. I'm tired of losing with Vet QB's who have shown little to no potential. The fact that you put tannehill in there is what really makes this scenario even worse. I was watching his highlights against LSU last night and I litterally went from :) --> --> :( --> --> --> :vomit: from watching his highlights from beginning to end. If its RG3, Maybe Foles, Tyler Wilson, Kellen, then thats not as bad of a scenario, but Tannehill..no thanks.

I see the point, and that comparison works for me. But IF RG3 gets here, I think its not out of the realm of possiblilty for him to put up more rushing yards than Newton did this year. One main reason. You give Mike Shanahan a mobile accurate guy like RG3, and you better be ready for our TE's to put up some career numbers, just due to him finally having a guy to run the bootleg and rollouts he loves so much. You couldn't see RG3 rolling out time after time, and pulling that pigskin down and using his world class speed to outrun an OLB or, say, and this is funny, but say a Reed Doughty type from another team that is slotted to spy him? My god, just with his natural talent this guy will be able to change games for us, and thats not including the head on his shoulders and his intangibles. The more I talk about him and watch film on him, the more I am falling in love with him.

Bottom Line - With an RG3, the possibilities are endless, and the ceiling is too high for us to see. I know I sound like a frikkin homer, but I really want a QB in DC. And I finally want us to go all in on a good prospect, and just go for it.
