Some very interesting names here:
The News
Titans owner Bud Adams said his team had to trim $21 million in payroll to get under the 2004 salary cap, and the cuts to reach the 2005 projected cap number of $86 million will run even deeper. "We've been able to hold this team together," Adams told the Associated Press. "It'll be a little hard to do it now at this juncture because we're trying to rob Peter to pay Paul the last nine years to hold this team together as many years as we have."
Our View
Last season the club traded Justin McCareins (http://www.fanball.com/fb/playerProfile.cfm/pid.1452) for draft picks, let Jevon Kearse (http://www.fanball.com/fb/playerProfile.cfm/pid.2713) and Robaire Smith leave via free agency, and cut Eddie George (http://www.fanball.com/fb/playerProfile.cfm/pid.1248) when he refused to take a pay cut. With 10 of their top players combining for almost $77 million in cap space, expect the turnover to be even greater in 2005. Among the potential hits are wide receiver Derrick Mason (http://www.fanball.com/fb/playerProfile.cfm/pid.1443) (due $3.2 million this year), cornerback Samari Rolle (http://www.fanball.com/fb/playerProfile.cfm/pid.2967) ($5.5 million), defensive tackle Kevin Carter ($13.97 million), and both offensive tackles, Brad Hopkins and Fred Miller.
