Part of my unflappable football instincts tell me that Smoot will be back. (I hope)

I'd say Smoot honestly...without having much information it seems most of the other negotiations have been going pretty smoothly and might not require staying up until the wee hours of the morning. The only reason to do that is to beat a deadline or strike while the iron is hot. Iron is hot = making progress where there wasn't much before. Of course I am probably just hoping...

Could possibly be Smoot. Dunno about going smoothly, though - In Pastabelly's chat on ESPN, he said Snyder met with Samuels' agent and there was no progress whatsoever on lowering his cap number.

I'm thinking Smoot is as good as gone.

I think we made a choice between Pierce and Smoot and Pierce won out.

If I had to make that decision I don't know who I would choose. I know that Pierce is the better performer, but Smoot has the intangibles. I dunno. I would hope that someway, somehow we could sign them both.

So who is the Redskins veteran that Gibbs is trying to resign? My guess is Samuels. I have a feeling Smooty is gone, plus the Skins are kind of handcuffed until they finalize Samuels' situation. So I'm guessing Samuels is the priority right now in the front office. Any thoughts?Would gibbs of used the term re-sign rather than re-negotiat if he was talking about Samuels. I think it is smoot because of his wording.

Do we have to think about the cap. What kind of situation are we in with that? How much can we spend or really allow to spend? I would like to keep him And I am sure you do to . But the cap is what might hurt us here this year or in the next few years.

Ya I was thinking that too. Well maybe the thinking is - if Samuels doesn't restrucutre then he's gone - so in that light it could be viewed as a "re-signing".
