At least a first this year and maybe one next yr plus a second this year but I think luck is worth it

Everyone thought the Falcons gave up way too much to get Julio Jones (I kinda still do) but it doesn't seem so stupid now. If that's who you want you pay what you have to to get him.

It was too much. Is it going to get them over the hump and beat GB? Probably not. Green Bay still has a better offense. Never ever pay that much for a wr.

Here's what I don't understand. If Barkely would've came out he would've been the 2nd or 3rd QB taken. But is he any better than Nick Foles? Foles is putting up great numbers and he's on a shitty team this year. Foles seems to have a bigger arm and looks like a better athlete. I'd take a look at this guy if I were Shanahan/Allen.

No player is worth three first rounders.

This. ^

I'll throw a hissy fit if we dump that many picks for him.

i would not give up 3 1st rounders for luck. id rather get a guy like foles in the 2nd rather than bet our forseeable future on an unproven rookie qb, regardless of how much of a "sure thing" he is. i do think he will be a great qb, but its not a sure thing...

That wasn't the point, I thought they gave up too much too, but that's who they wanted and they paid for him. If Luck is who Shanny wants he will pay for him.

I get what you are saying. If you leave out the fact that Jones is a WR, the point remains that you get what you pay for. And if you want a once-in-a-generation QB, you have to pay big.

Of course, the flip side of the Jones scenario is that the Browns have 2 first rounders this year, making it tough to outbid them if they are fervent after Luck.

Bold prediction time-Colts beat the Jags and Rams lose to Niners on Sunday giving the Rams the #1 overall pick in the 2012 draft.

In the preamble to the draft, knowing the Rams will deal the pick, the Luck camp lets it be known that the Redskins are Andrew's preference citing proximity to home (West Virginia) and Shanahan's reputation with QB plus uncertainty at the other potential landing spots (Cleveland with an unproven Pat Shurmer, Miami with ??? and Indy with Manning's situation)

The morning of the draft we secure the #1 pick for 2012 1st and 3rd, 2013 1st and 3rd & our 2014 2nd for the #1 overall in 2012 plus a 5th this year and a 4th next year.

Book it as done and it will be worth it.

I'd take it!

Also isn't the risk/reward worth it? If Luck is a bust, at least the financial commitment wont be there, because of the new CBA. We could walk after 3 years( if it's not working out )and not be in any kind of salary cap nightmare.

Ok if I came up to you and said lets go back in time and I'll give you the opportunity to get Peyton Manning with the first pick, but you have to give me 3 first rounders, would you do it?

Thats how people are viewing/treating this Luck kid (and pick)
