Do you see Willie Smith as being a possible starting Left Tackle. He has gone up against thre probowler in three week and only alowed 1 sack a game. Next week is another huge test. I am praying for a senario where the Rams get the first pick and we trade for Bradford. I would be happy with Luck also. The reason I ask this is because does Willie Smith become part of the trade or allow them to trade Williams.

I think Smith could be a valuable asset, but I still want another LT. That's why I'd look to do it only if we could keep our 1st round pick in 2012. That way we could get a LT. You're probably asking well why not just keep TW? Fair point. But in my scenario we can get Luck and keep our own first (let's say it's a 7th overall) and use that to move down to get more picks like we did last year

I'd be fine with moving Williams.

You read my whole post?

And Skinsguy, we can't offer up Davis because he's a UFA. I think Orakpo's value is potentially at its peak right now. And I don't deny the impact he has in drawing blockers allowing guys like Kerrigan to succeed. But it's apparent he's better served in a 4-3, and more importantly a 3-4 OLB who's basically occupying players for his teammates to shine is not as valuable as a potential franchise QB.

I see your point Smoot. In that case, I'd be fine with that move as well. We need a franchise QB more than anything at this point, and I feel Luck is probably going to be the only QB in this draft that can start from day one. Although I still think he'd probably sit for a bit.

What if you could, and listen this is a longshot I know, but what if you could trade for Luck without giving up your first round pick in 2012. The Rams are known to be in need of an LT to protect their QB and a 4-3 DE to help Chris Long.

So Trent Williams, Brian Orakpo, and some later year first round picks for Luck at #1. At #7 you can maybe move down a bit and get someone like Reiff or even Luck's Stanford teammate Jonathan Martin to be your LT. Don't know who would replace Orakpo.

Sign me up...I will even rent a limo to drive them to the airport!

The redskins are 10 players away from being consistently competitive which is why they cant trade 3 picks for an unproven college player.

Massive exageration. We don't need a whole new starting team. Every team has weak spots. GB D is pretty weak as a whole except for turnovers which fits their offense perfectly. The Jets, the team that went to AFC championship the past two years, has one decent pass rusher and half of a quarterback.

We get a number 1 wr, 1 more Oline stud and keep our starters from the beginning of the year for depth and Smith, and of course a great qb, we can begin to compete as long as we aren't ravished by injuries.

Our D has kept us in games. If we could have scored 24 points in every game this year we would be 10-5 instead of 5-10.

could we throw in kyle shanahan and jim haslett too (and bring in spags as our DC)?

You make too much sense.

It's funny how you hear the media/some fans who ranted about the previous regime but yet still want a quick fix right now.

If Tannehill or Foles impress in the combine we might be better served w/ that approach. If RG111, declares it could be interesting though. We'll know alot more after the combine though. I don't know much about Foles, but I've heard some good comments about him too.

We'll see but you are right, another draft like last year will do us well. After what this fan base went through the last 12 years under Snyder and Cerratto you would think that people would have realize that on big name player isn't going to get us anywhere. And when we trade away picks or key players to aquire these guys it doesn't nothing but set us back even further than we were before. Philly is another prime example of that.

I think Luck and RG3 is just what this organization needs at qb. However, I'm smart of to realize they are far from all we need to be a consistent winner in this league. We have holes at C, OG, RT, WR, CN, and ST. If we do mortgage away the future for Luck or RG3 we will still have this glaring needs that will keep us out of the playoffs. Now I'm not saying that I wouldn't draft one of these guys but I wouldn't give up multiple first rounders for any player at this point.

It's way to early to say who we should or shouldn't draft. We haven't seen the senior bowl, combine, or workout any of these players. Hell, our season isn't even over yet. Who knows Tannehill or Foles might just fit our system like a glove. We might end up with the fourth pick in the draft and be in position to draft RG3. We don't know. However, what I do know is whatever happens we need to get as many picks as we can and fill up this roster with young and talent players on both sides of the ball if we want to be a contender. I don't think we're going to get everything we need in this one draft. I do believe we can be vastly improved based on the quality and quantity of players coming out of this draft.

I would think that after all these years of losing and getting a bunch of big name players and still losing that our fans would realize we do need one big name player, one thats primary job is to throw the ball.

I tend to agree. Just keep adding pieces (another quality deep draft class would help), get a QB in here that won't turn it over twice a game, and we're on track.

QB: We all know that Beck and Grossman sucks. We need a young guy for the future and a good vet to come in here and school him.

RB: I like our back field with Helu and Rosyter, however, we going to need another guy that can step in case one of those guys go down.

OL: Our oline is improved and I think we found some gems in Smith, Polumbus, and Hurt. However, with Jamal Brown poor play, Lichtensteiger injury, and Montgomery average play we might be looking for 3 new starters on this oline. Even if we bring them back and we plug them back in we will still need to bring in more oline men.

TE: TE use to be a position I thought we were strong at, but with Cooley's recent string of injuries and Fred Davis having a one year suspension hanging over his head it has quickly became a position of need. Cooley is definitely finish here. Davis a liability if we do decide to resign him. Paulson hasn't impressed me at all. I'm sure one of those guys will not be returning next year. We are going to have to get at least one difference maker at TE.

WR: This is position that is by far the weakest. Moss and Gaffney are at the end of their careers. Our guys haven't really shown that much promise outside of the one good game Hankerson had. Even though I think he's going to be a really good player. Niles Paul and Terrence Austin really haven't shown me anything. We need two good wrs that can compete against good secondaries if we want to have a good passing game.

DL: We haven't played good run defense this year, but I think this unit is fine. They will be dominate as they get chemistry. The only think I would say is that we can use a NT. I like Cofield and I think he's a great player but we need a guy that clog the middle. Cofield really hasn't been able to do that. He's out of position. We need to look to improve depth.

LB: We're pretty much set at LB for right now. I do think that Orakpo would be better suited for the 4-3. I wouldn't be surprise if we dealt him in the near future. LF is old and we will soon be looking to replace him. Other than that our lbs have set. We need to look to improve depth here.

CB: Hall is a huge liablity in coverage. This guy get abused by big wrs and speedy wrs. He doesn't tackle very well neither. The only thing he does well is caught. We definitely need a upgrade here. Josh Wilson play has improved over the last few weeks, but I'm not sold on him neither. At the very least we need to bring in a cover guy to compete with what we have here and some guys for depth.

ST: Landry is a very talent guy, but he's stays injured. I want to bring him back. I'm sure not sure if he's ever going to be the player that we thought he would be when to took with the 6th pick. Reed Doughy sucks all around the board. I never see him again in a Redskin's uniform. OJ really didn't stand out this year. I'm not sure what to make of him at this point. What do know is he stayed injured for the most part. I'm not ready to give up on him yet. Gomes looks like he play. He might not be a starter as of right now. Yet, I do believe he deserves to be on this team. We need to upgrade this position.

I'm a firm believer that a team is a good as the player sittings on the bench. We don't need just good starters. We need quality depth, not just a few players here and there. This team is far from being complete. Mike and Bruce are showing us the way to build a team properly. What irish said was the truth. We are at least 10 players away from being competitive.
