Hunting a Gamecock: South Carolina WO Troy Williamson, who is expected to be the No. 2 receiver selected in this year's draft behind Michigan's Braylon Edwards, had dinner with Washington Sunday night and has also slated a meet-and-eat with Dallas this week here in Mobile. The Redskins, who pick No. 9 in April, and Dallas, which picks No. 11, are both said to be in the market for a difference-making wide receiver and may be targeting Williamson.

Drafting Troy Williamson at our #9 spot could well be a tremendous choice. He is an playmaker and we need playmakers on offense. He has track star speed, and we need track star speed. He has good hands, and we need more receivers with good hands. The kicker is that Dallas may want him too - and they pick #11.

It seems like he could immediately give our offense a new dimension. He fits well you would think with Pat Ramsey, with his strong arm. "Ramsey to Williamson - another 85 yard touchdown - their third of the game over 80 yards!..." You can't blame for dreaming a little....

It sounds as if the positives out weigh the negatives on him. I am one of those guys who does not watch much if any college ball, so I go mostly by what I hear, read and stats of players. From reading the report Shane posted, it sounds like there are 3 game changing WR's for sure in the draft this year. I hope that we land the best one. Even though this guy sounds good, I am sure that Gibbs will find the right player to fill the role.

Troy W sounds like a good pick but the O line is a big need! I don't care how many great QB's,RB's,WR's and TE's you have if the line can't do the job it will not work! Now maybe these O line needs can be done in free agent market? But I would like to see more of the teams needs done through the draft and middle of the road free agents then throwing bages of cash at people like WR Moss! It's time to look at teams like New England and build like they have through the draft!

Dont you think this position (#9) would be a little early for him though? Do you think we could be trading down a few spots?

Doubt it, Gmanc. I've heard lots of people rave about this guy, I haven't seen him but his stock has gone up. Fair or not, the combine will probably either raise or lower his stock and we'll have a better idea of what's to come then.

Redskin Pete: With the exception of a Center, I like our line. Samuels played Well, Thomas played well, hopefully Jansen will be himself, and I even though Dockery showed some flashes of being great. One thing you'll find about every great O line in the game, is there's normally little turnaround 1 player max leaving a year, and they've been together for years!

I guess not if Dallas is targeting him at #11

Gibbs needs guys that can run specific routes...if this guy is a free-lancer, he might not be the best fit.

however, you can teach a guy how to run, but you can't teach speed...

I've heard a lot of people speaking very highly of this guy being the wr a lot of people should be talking about but aren't cuz of the school he went to compared to the other 2 big name wr prospects. plus Williamson acheived his success in a heavily run-oriented team. I want to hear more about his workouts and his work ethic before deciding, I just hope snyder and co don't make a play on this guy just cuz dallas is eyeing him.

I haven't heard much about him either, I too, don't watch much college football and go by stats and numbers. This guy looks like a playmaker. I hadn't heard of him unti today.
