Matt Barkley Stays (QB Draft Prospect Thread-Episode IV)T.O.Killa 12-23-2011, 10:15 AM Dave garrard T.O.Killa 12-23-2011, 10:29 AM Curious how so many of you laughed when I suggested Bradford could be available. Look who's laughing now. Anyway, he's not the QB (QBs) I was told about. Unfortunate, since I kind of wish he was. Still, I suppose he's a possibility, however remote it could be. Expecting to maybe get some more info today. Not sure though, since it's the holidays I would rather have Bradford than anybody in the draft Dirtbag59 12-23-2011, 10:32 AM I would rather have Bradford than anybody in the draft I want him to, if only to get a chance to have the PC argument regarding Bradford's heritage that we were robbed of. Lotus 12-23-2011, 11:23 AM I think it's funny though that now that Barkley has announced that he'll stay the "wait till next year" crowd has started to come out of the woodwork across Redskin Nation. Though I would say that I like the idea of drafting Blackmon in the first and then using the second round pick to get Foles or even Moore provided the front office believes in either of those guys and drafting Moore in the second doesn't turn into a huge reach. I mean Moore is a winner.....right? Next year's QB class will be better. :) NC_Skins 12-23-2011, 11:40 AM Well you never know maybe there's some QB out there no one is thinking of that may suddenly become available That said, I've felt for a while we probably weren't going QB in the top 10 anyway. I kind of wish it was April already I haven't read the whole thread yet, but I guessing you are referring to Peyton Manning. According to another insider, that's the word from a higher up that at this point that if he did come available, they would get into the running. Only people I've told are the moderators. NC_Skins 12-23-2011, 11:49 AM Another insider? Here? Only people I've told are the moderators. No. Not here. On another forum. One of three guys on another site that give out pretty much identical info to you at times. There are 4 guys that I know of that have insider type info and you are one of them. Probably some of the same connections. His exact words: A few days ago I received some information from a high up source in the organization that stated " Should Peyton Manning become available we would plan to be a player". Naturally at the time of hearing this it looked like Reg,Luck,Barkley would all be available so it was a head scratcher but as things are playing out it doesn't look so far fetched. Everyday that passes it looks like the "strongest QB class since Elway,Marino" is being diluted to Andrew Luck and guys that need time to develop. What does that mean for the Redskins who find themselves drafting in the top 10 and in need of a franchise guy ? Trade it all for Luck ? Trade it all for Bradford? In a few weeks we will know who sits in the number 1 spot come draft day and if its the colts then march is setting up to be a tell that Indy might not be able to avoid in regards to Manning/Luck. The Colts have to either pay or move on from Peyton in march with his 28 million dollar bonus due and with Luck/Peyton having the same agent it only clouds the situation more and nobody is looking for Manning to renegotiate. Archie Manning, yes the same Manning who was the architect of Eli to the giants has already came out and said he didn't feel Luck/Peyton could play together in Indianapolis. I cant see Indy with their cap situation keeping Manning and drafting Luck regardless of what/who they try to restructure and see it as a very real possibility Peyton if not traded by march is released. Everyone knows Mike is in year two of a five year contract and cant afford to go into next season with the QB situation as is and the QB market looks slim with the like of Flynn,Smith, and Young. You bring in Peyton Manning as a Free Agent and draft a QB the team likes but needs time to develop in Ryan Tannehill. Peyton is perceived to have a good 2-3 years left in him if he is healthy from his neck injury and while its a gamble its a wise one if you draft a young QB to groom that can be had by trading back a bit in the draft. I don't think Mike plans on really hitching 4 years to Rex Grossman and what better guy to help develop a QB than Manning. I'm still digging and trying to find out more information but considering where i heard the manning info from i have to give it validity. The other possibility is that the smoke screen has started early but usually the source isn't going to get involved in smoke screens this early so I'm taking it for what it is right now. Yes, i also laughed and stepped on this idea a few weeks ago and i am also not saying it will without a doubt happen. SmootSmack 12-23-2011, 11:58 AM No. Not here. On another forum. One of three guys on another site that give out pretty much identical info to you at times. There are 4 guys that I know of that have insider type info and you are one of them. Probably some of the same connections. I see. Well I've had heard some rumors pertaining to Peyton Manning but nothing that legitimately suggest the Redskins being all that interested. Not from what I've heard at least. I'll just go ahead and tell you guys since it seems to be a false rumor anyway. Well not a false rumor but one that's not such a big deal, plus it's the holidays. One of the guys I was talking about was Jimmy Clausen. I dropped the clue right in here http://www.thewarpath.net/869792-post110.html Anyway, it was more of a "Clausen might be available this offseason for cheap, maybe even for nothing. He could be a good choice to bring in" But from doing a bit more gathering, it seems like that would be more of a due diligence "how can you not at least consider the option, especially if it costs us nothing" move But I'll keep the other name quiet a little longer. It would be potentially be a franchise altering move. Chico23231 12-23-2011, 12:05 PM I see. If you say "franchise altering" I imagine the type of QB would be an established, franchise QB. Is that right? NC_Skins 12-23-2011, 12:06 PM I see. One of the guys I was talking about was Jimmy Clausen. That insider said that it (the intel) was based off the fact that if both RGIII and Barkley stayed in school, which appears to be the case. I quoted him directly to the info he got on the Peyton thing. They bring in PM as a FA, and draft somebody like Tannehill. Clausen? Meh.... I want to say couldn't be worse than Beck, but then realized it probably could be. |
