Am I the only one that thinks this is a little bit of overkill for smoking pot?

Nope.

1. Stupid, stupid, stupid. "When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I gave up childish ways." 1Corinthians, 13:11. Time to grow up guys.

2. NFL - Chill out. After stomping on a guy's head, a two game suspension for a guy who has multiple in game unsportsmanlike behaviour. Twice that for a little recreational drug use, some of which clearly occurred when the players were locked out? C'mon man!

I get it. Rules are rules - if the players didn't like'em, should have negotiated to change them. On one hand, the owners are paying these guys top dollar and want to make sure there "employees" are able to perform at their peak. On the other hand, it's not like these guys are driving buses, trains or planes or are otherwise responsible for public safety - if their illegal activities either get them arrested or affect their on field performance, fine cut them and void their SB, etc.

Guys in their 20's do dumb things (particularly if they are rich and priviledged). Don't matter how strict or how loose the rules are - they will find a way to break them. If they get caught, however, they get the consequences. It's part of growing up.

As I said at first - Stupid, Stupid, Stupid.

Poor judgement on their part. And they have to know that these tests aren't exactly random. I mean they are, but they aren't. Both Williams and Davis had "questionable" reputations (not saying drug related) coming into the league. Those guys are always more heavily scrutinized, tested, etc.

We are not debating the validity of the rule or the fairness of the punishment. The point is both players are stupid.the rules are clear, this isnt the first time and next time they get caught its a year suspension.

They are young, stupid and didn't think this was going to happen (despite it being clear as day in the rules) . Dumb for Davis too considering its a contract year. At some pt both players need to realize hitting a blunt isn't worth the loss of millions of dollars. TW will lose 2m I think and davis just decreased his value during a contract year. Sure he's a beast but all teams are gonna put crazy clauses requiring him to pay salary back if he gets caught again. In the end its just stupid....

Sports Junkies made a good pt this morning. If you had random alcohol tests for your job, would you stop drinking. I would. Too much is on the line to continue a habit.

Yup, pretty simple. They know the rules and they effed up, again.

1) Suh didn't stomp on the guy's head.

2) This was their THIRD offense. They had 2 other chances that went unpunished so this isn't like a first time offense deal.

We have two other players who are quite close as well. One strike away from their 3rd I believe. I don't know which players, but I have some suspicions. I don't feel these are guys we'd really miss though

That IMO is one of the problems with this, on a team with very little talent these are 2 of the talented players that the Skins cant afford to have sit out as a result of stupidity.

Hope this doesn't become bigger than it already is. By that I mean Shanny has his work cut out for him to keep this team on track. If the O sucks as bad as it did a month ago, a very likely possibility w/these suspensions, he could easily lose the locker room.
