And exactly what have the coaches been setting them up for the last two months? I see your point but what if just once we had a damn diamond setting over there that had "it" ? With a few games left might as well let him sling it around a bit, guys like Favre and Brady sittin around pickin boogers before they got a chance. Im not saying we got anybody like that and Crompton probably sux too but to me you might as well give him a fn shot. Hell they have given every other swingin richard a shot on O & D in the other positions.
Let's say for arguments sake you're right and Cropmton has 'it'. What exactly do you expect to see from him without the team's best lineman and top receiving threat? Spoiler alert, not a damn thing. There is literally zero benefit from playing Crompton at this point or probably ever.

And whats the down side of not giving him a shot? Wait...losing maybe?? hmm been doing that for 20 years around here. Keep polishing this turd and its going to shine.

People have been killing Shanahan and Shanahan for not weeding out the bad QBs BEFORE they take the field. People have asked "why did he not see the flaws BEFORE they took the field?". Now they want to shove out another project. But when Crompton starts sucking balls(which he probably will), they'll bitch again about not weeding him out BEFORE putting him out there on the field.
In short, on the one hand, folks are demanding that Shanahan have impeccable foresight while demanding he start "upside guys" who probably will suck just as much as the two guys who have already played.

When your starting QB is making $810,000 then there's much to be desired. Just about all of the starting QBs- Vick, Brady, E. Manning, P. Manning, Schuab, Hassleback, Rivers, A. Smith, Bradford, Romo, Cutler, Brees, Flacco, Rothisberger, Kolb, Palmer, Sanchez, Cassel, Ryan, Stafford, Rodgers, Fitzpatrick, J. Freeman, and others have hefty salaries. A majority of these men were first round selections. So, you can might as well assume that if your starting QB is making under $1,000,000 then he's a damn bum.
And the Redskins starting QB is making $810,000 so that would imply that he's a bum.Crompton is worse than both, since his salary is lower than either Grossman or Beck.

I have all the faith in the world that he would stink it up, but why not get a little live look at him maybe see if he is worth keeping later on down the road. Make the most out of a lost cause. Although I did see yesterday where the Skins are not mathmatically out of a division championship yet. But it was as complicated as Chinese math!!

I was watching the first Redskins game of the year against the Giants on DVD today. Rex Grossman played his best game of the season in that game. He started off slowly, but got into a rhythm and was very sharp for the most of that game.
That said, the Giants have a great defense. But Grossman played well in that game, and he's struggled against lesser defenses as the season has gone on. Why is this? Why is this man so inconsistent? Grossman even said that when he was in Chicago, he was a gunslinger which led to a bunch of interceptions. Then with the Redskins, he claims to be more disciplined because Kyle Shanahan's offense requires that from the QB and Grossman even said that Kyle's offense suits him perfectly.
But yet, he's thrown 10 TDs against 15 INTs for just over 2,000 yards with a passer rating of 69.8. Just awful and pitiful.
With all that said, I can't begin to see how Jonathan Crompton or any other practice squad QB could play any worse than Grossman has played this season.

I could throw numerous factors or excuses as to why Grossman started out the season so well and then fell off. Feel free to accept whichever ones you like.
1. The whole team had a quiet confidence comming out of the preseason. Grossman especially, he out right took the starting job from Beck.
2. The starting offensive line was in tact and providing better protection.
3. It was a division game.
4. Since it was so early in the season teams had not had a chance to scheme us yet.
5. The lack of offseason worked out more in our favor than it did for other teams.
6. Grossman was not comming off of a game where he had thrown a couple of INT's and/ or gotten benched.
7. He had more than 2 recieving threats on the field at the same time.
8. Tim Hightower was passblocking on third down's
9. The Giants were missing most of their starting defense.
10. Grossman just had a good day.
