The team that would benefit the most if Manning was traded, would be the 49ers. Alex Smith would be a FA, they have a young QB in the wings that Manning could mentor and are a playoff team.

Either them or the Jets would be the ideal place for Manning. I don't think he will be traded at this point. My guess is that Luck and Manning will be forced to coexist for a year or two.

Giving up multiple high round picks for a 36 year old QB with some serious injury concerns? I just don't see the Skins making that move.

Plus why would Manning want to come here? If he was traded, he's gonna want to go to a team ready to contend right now.

36 years old or not, the Colts will want a high price in trade. I'm not sure what team would make that move because the price will be so steep. I'm with you, I don't see Manning coming here.

M and M talked the possibility earlier today, said it could be a good fit

Did you actually listen to this. Because I think your statement about what they said is pretty inaccurate

I just don't see them trading him. They owe him another $28M bonus before they can even offer him up.

But they can work out numbers to make it work. No one is paying him that amount of money. Not even Indy.

I really think you're reading the tea leaves incorrectly on this one. The Skins are rebuilding - their just not admitting to it in a straightforward manner. To put it more succinctly, Bruce Allen's "the future is now" remark was pure bullshit. Don't be mislead.

Because the Skiins are rebuilding, going after Peyton Manning would be the wrong move for this team. We are not going to be competing for a title for at least two more seasons, if nearly everything goes well. Not to mention that Peyton is a very big injury risk which the Skins cannot afford to take.

As for the Free Agent pickups. these were a different type of FAs for the Skins. They were younger mid-level FA's - not silver bullets but good players who filled needs - who should be around when the team has been rebuilt. To rebuild, we need good young players who were drafted and good young players who were acquired through Free Agency.

Our designated Franchise QB will almost certainly be drafted.

Maybe I am. But with a group of solid vet wr's...Stallworth, Moss and Gafney, plus Hank coming back, a real good TE, revamp the line and bring in a fa or two and with an above average defense and a healthy Manning this team could contend. It certainly would be a conterder in the division. Hell...right now this team plays competitive games in the division with Rex Grossman.

All I'm saying is the FO office wants to win now. Rebuilding and taking 3-4 years isn't their thing.

After the whole situation and reaction to the McNabb trade I can't even fathom what would happen if we got Manning. I think the world would explode. And at very least, my head...

We ARE rebuilding, that doesn't mean they don't want to "win now." Of course they do, but other than the mcnabb deal the new regime has shown it will not do so at any cost. Compare our moves to Philly's this year.

This article in today's WP explains it well & gives some #s to back it up. Boswell even calls BS on Allen saying "the future is now."

I agree. I hope they don't do it but you know the make up of the brain trust. Do you think they really want to wait around for a rookie?

We'll see what happens. I hope they keep building through the draft. I actually HATE the free agent route cause it's proven that it doesn't really work. I hope they draft RG3, build an offense around him and go from there.
