EARTHQUAKE2689 12-15-2011, 04:45 AM I don't see Manning wanting to come but crazier things have happened Not happening. MTK 12-15-2011, 08:45 AM I think Manning either returns to the Colts or retires. They will draft Luck and hope Manning can play a couple more seasons. skinsfan69 12-15-2011, 10:19 AM The same brain trust that wheeled and dealed themselves into 12 draft picks last year? What about this current roster says win now? They had no choice cause they had to get younger. The only real way to do it is by the draft. But they still went out and signed several free agents, like they always do. I see them doing to same thing this year, signing more free agents and drafting. But like I said, w/ an older coach and a GM that thinks "the future is now" ...and an impatient owner and a fed up fan base, you'd be kidding yourself if you think the Redskins are not going to make a run at Manning....if he goes on the trading block. That would be dumb by them. They should try to get Barkley or RGIII if they come out (Barkley preferably). Manning is one big hit away from retirement. I just don't see them trading him. They owe him another $28M bonus before they can even offer him up. KI Skins Fan 12-15-2011, 11:01 AM They had no choice cause they had to get younger. I really think you're reading the tea leaves incorrectly on this one. The Skins are rebuilding - their just not admitting to it in a straightforward manner. To put it more succinctly, Bruce Allen's "the future is now" remark was pure bullshit. Don't be mislead. Because the Skiins are rebuilding, going after Peyton Manning would be the wrong move for this team. We are not going to be competing for a title for at least two more seasons, if nearly everything goes well. Not to mention that Peyton is a very big injury risk which the Skins cannot afford to take. As for the Free Agent pickups. these were a different type of FAs for the Skins. They were younger mid-level FA's - not silver bullets but good players who filled needs - who should be around when the team has been rebuilt. To rebuild, we need good young players who were drafted and good young players who were acquired through Free Agency. Our designated Franchise QB will almost certainly be drafted. MTK 12-15-2011, 11:10 AM Giving up multiple high round picks for a 36 year old QB with some serious injury concerns? I just don't see the Skins making that move. Plus why would Manning want to come here? If he was traded, he's gonna want to go to a team ready to contend right now. freddyg12 12-15-2011, 11:48 AM I think for guys like C. Mortenson & J. Clayton who are paid by espn to not only find info about players, but also to offer insight & predictions (read opinion) on players' & teams' moves, linking Manning to the Skins is simply the low hanging fruit of their hypothesis. Correct me if I'm wrong, but nobody has actually reported any facts other than salary figures. Hope we are not in the manning talks when the draft approaches, unless Allen can use that as leverage to broker another deal.
