2012 QB Prospects (Part 2)

Per Mel Kiper.

1. Washington Redskins

Not only do the Redskins not have a long-term solution at the position in either Rex Grossman or John Beck, they've won enough to be well out of the Andrew Luck race. Washington could be better served trying to deal for a quarterback, or getting into position for a guy like Matt Barkley or Landry Jones. But there's a problem: If you think the Skins have a roster that's ready to compete for a playoff position in 2012 -- and I certainly think they could -- do you really want a rookie in there? I wonder if the Redskins are a team that looks at a trade for a current starter, or targets a guy who might be ready to take over, such as Matt Flynn or Brian Hoyer. Either way, this is a team that is in desperate need of a solution.

I rather have Rex start then Flynn or Hoyer who have not been in this system.

I keep hearing speculation of which QB we should take this year but then as of now since the draft is still months away, id like to know what the hell everyone plans to do if 2 or 3 of the top four prspects elect to stay at school. Yes, i want nothing more than to land barkley or RG3 but what if them and luck shocking all stay in school. I dont like the idea of setteling for a 2nd round QB considering its our biggest need. Just for shits and giggles (maybe a new thread?) But lets say all the non senior QBs stay in school, what is everyones 1st round prospect? Im just tired of talking QBs that might not even come out. We all want one of the top 3/4 but what is everyone elses most pressing need? Mine is OL or more specifically OL in general.

just curious, why are people touting matt flynn as a possible solution? what has he shown that makes you think he will be a decent nfl starter? he wasnt even great in college and hasnt done anything in the pros so im wondering why people are projecting him to be a potential starter somewhere.

THANK YOU *sobs*. In slight seriousness though it will be back to the annual "next years class will be better" charade.

Play backup QB for the Packers and you're going to win a starting job. It's an indisputable fact.

It's rediculous. He played one good game against New England last year and apparently now he's starter material. I guess watching a great QB play makes you become one. Basically having a great QB is like a license to sell knockoffs at a premium...

This what I wrote in an earlier post: If Jones and Barkley don't come out then I wouldn't know what to do other than to draft RGIII. If none of those three comes out, I probably wouldn't draft a QB before the third round (I also would cry softly into my pillow).

To be more specific, I think (as a lot of us do) that our three greatest needs are 1) Starting QB, 2) Impact WR, and 3) OL. So, I'd try to get in position to draft WR Justin Blackmon in Round 1. Then, I'd look to draft two either two interior OL or an OG and an OT within the first four rounds. I'd also look to draft a developmental QB by the fourth round. The rest of my draft would be BPA. Our Franchise QB would have to wait until 2013.

I'd plan to go with Rex as my starting QB in 2012 but I would bring in a vet to compete with him for the job. I'd cut John Beck. I'd also try to improve the OL in FA, if possible. If the OL plays better, then the entire offense, including Rex, will play better.

russell wilson is about 5-10/5-11,i doubt he will be a 2nd rounder.

and guys, jordan jefferson seriously? hes not any good. hes never looked all that great. lsu wins with excellent defense, not good quarterback play.

due to his non "prototype" stature slides him to a 4th to 5th rounder but IMO he looks like a 2nd rounder. Mechanics, vision, accuracy, decent arm strength, mobile when pocket collapses and leadership skills,,,,I can't help but love this kid!!

I keep seeing people saying we need to address the O-line. I think our starting Oline is pretty solid. Maybe we need one more piece to the puzzle, but

T. Williams
K. Lich
Montgomery
Chester
Brown

I think they are doing a solid job this year till a few got hurt, and our depth seems okay. I would maybe work to get a stronger RT but that's it.
