Odd. Atogwe seems like a stand-up guy. He has been good in the past. I hope he sticks around for at least one more year.
I may have worded it wrong. It's not like they're jawing at each other it's just that sometimes the best players and best coaches aren't the biggest fans of each other

I'd be stunned if Laron returns
Wow! this thread took a sharp turn here, before that it was talk basically about him keeping his options open, including leaving town.
I'm always disappointed when guys drafted here want to leave, but that's just my romanticism of the glory days, hoping that most players will play well & spend their whole career in b&g. That said, I have never been able to really be a big LL fan. His rookie year was so promising but it's always seemed he's never quite taken that next step. His best year, 2010 was cut short by injury.
If he could be franchised & part of a trade package, that would make sense at this point. Or if we could match a team's offer per restricted FA that would still allow a trade w/out cap issues. I think the Rams would be interested given their rebuild in progress. Can't expect much value in return, but adding Landry to a deal might be the icing for the rams or someone else. When does the franchise label take place, same time (March 1) at FA right?

What do you mean?
Do you expect Laron to be an average player again? How long do you expect him to play given his current situation? Any thoughts which franchises might take a chance on him?

another thing about Landry I've mentioned in other threads, he doesn't seem to be a Shanny type player. My guess is that Shanny would've been much less likely to draft him if he were coach/prez in 07.

Oh, yeah I don't really know the answers to those questions. I have a feeling he might face a Carlos Rogers like situation, meaning one year deal to prove himself again.
I mean it's not that people doubt his skills it's that they're skeptical of a guy who hasn't gotten surgery yet. And on his end, he's worried surgery could essentially end his career.

As I understand it, Shanahan and Atogwe don't have the best relationship (kind of like Shanahan and Gano). But much like Smith fights to the end for Gano, Haslett does the same for Atogwe.
Also, Atogwe wasn't entirely healthy this year.
I think he returns
I get the chuckles every time I hear this now! Who does Mike get along with lol? For that matter...is there a single player on the current roster to say as much? Haven't heard it...
I think it's an important factor, especially for those hoping Manning is our next QB. Manning from all accounts is a good guy who wants a good working relationship with everyone. Why would he have anything to do w/ Mike Shanahan after the McNabb fiasco etc etc?

I remember reading a scouting report of him when he was at LSU & he was said to be "jekyl & hide" with teamates. Just watching him on the field he has never seemed to be much of a team guy. He doesn't seem to congratulate teamates much, but is quick to celebrate & let you know he hit somebody.
I always wondered how coachable he is & how he prepares w/others. Without knowing any more than what I see on tv, the guy comes across as being close to the opposite of London Fletcher w/regards to team concept & leadership.

I really think that aspect took a big hit when #21 passed away.
If you look during his rookie season, you don't really see a lot of that.

There are 53 guys on the active roster. He gets along with just about all of them. And like I said it's not that jawing at each other. It's just that Shanahan is not (it appears) Atogwe's biggest fan and Atogwe gets frustrated by that. It happens everywhere, you can think someone is a great guy and all but on the field you're like I don't know that we can't do better. But Haslett loves Atogwe.
And, I think, that Shanahan felt Atogwe was more hurt than he let on

I think that was kind of obvious. Landry had to take Sean's role right when he was not ready for it at all.
