Hail to the Redskins 11-20-2011, 09:28 PM OK, went out to run errands for a while...
I guess I should point out the "lol" at the end of the original post. This was a "tongue-in-cheek" thread pointing out everything that is so frustrating about this team right now.
I did leave out the fact that we don't have cornerbacks we can count on either... lol
It was fun for a while watching the game, but again, when you see the same mistakes over and over and over... (see Torain Stretch Play, Gano in the clutch, D. Hall's coverage on 3 & 15+ and the game on the line vs Dallas, etc) it sucks.
It's even more infuriating when it's vs Dallas... at home... and we are now 1-7 vs them over the last 8.
NC_Skins 11-20-2011, 09:30 PM Somebody needs to drum up the Rex Grossman BAN HIM picture.
SirClintonPortis 11-20-2011, 09:43 PM Why the F' would you want to stay overnight in Landover?
Alvin Walton 11-20-2011, 09:52 PM Does Landover have any good brewpubs?
DynamiteRave 11-20-2011, 10:17 PM I didnt mention because I didnt know it,and I dont see how its relevant anyway. Its not like he was 1 of 5 over 50,hes one of 2 and made 24 in a row. When Gano makes 10 in a row I'll be shocked
Its relevant because unlike in Dallas, you're asking a bad kicker to kick from 50+ yards. Yet again, my point is, we've got to work with the hand we've been dealt. Gano is obviously shaky with anything around 45+ Under that, if he misses, he SHOULD be royally kicking himself. An NFL caliber kicker needs to make those and he doesn't even do that regularly. So you expect him to make something longer than 50+ with the game on the line? Please. You're playing a game of chance at that point.
We need to get Gano in better field position I'd say anything within 45 yards and even at that I don't feel safe. Under 40 yards should be money, but he even misses those at times. But if everyone wanted to put him on the cross at that point, I'd completely be backing you up.
So saying bad kicker is bad when he's kicking from 50+ yards considering how hot and cold he's been throughout his entire career seems a bit obvious, don't you think?

well your basically making my point, your admitting from the get go gano sucks so why are you defending this guy? Im not blaming this loss solely on gano but the simple fact is he makes those 2 very makeable kicks we win!
He's shown us he can do it by nailing the 59 yarder at home,so whats shanahan sposed to do? Its not like it was out of his range, but like YOU SAID,we cant even trust him to make a 40 yarder, thats why he has to go and he's the goat.Again, not blaming him solely for this loss and just because we have other needs doesnt mean we should let gano have a free pass which it seems you want to do
As far as the Occupy Landover movement goes, I'm actually not on board, and here's why:
I believe the Skins are moving in the right direction. I know that sounds crazy, but for years I have been a critic of the way in which the FO runs this team. But lately it looks as though they have taken a different approach: building the team through the dract, eschewing burdomsome and stupid pricey free agent signings, cutting ties with bad locker room personalities. This is a rebuilding process and it is going to be hard and it is going to be painful, but it is exactly what many of us (critics of Snyder & Co.) have been asking for for years. I don't mind losing as much if I think the team has a plan, and I do believe we do.
freddyg12 11-21-2011, 09:41 AM I refuse to solely blame a kicker for missing a 52 yard FG. Get in better field position so you don't have to put the game on your already inconsistent kicker.
agreed

And why the hell didn't Rex throw the ball away on that play before the FG instead of losing a couple of yards? Dumb play.
firstdown 11-21-2011, 09:51 AM Actually the Pat's have the higest ticket prices and we come in second. Our tickets are only a few bucks over other teams and I'm guessing the price is inflated for the large number of luxury seats we have. I would love to see them do away with them and with the low ticket sales we may see that happen.
They're up: NFL tickets to cost about 5% more this season - Sep. 8, 2004 (http://money.cnn.com/2004/09/07/news/economy/nfl_ticket_prices/)
Sorry that link is old. I can't find a list but I did read that the Pats, Dallas, and NY are at the top of the list.
