Bingo. Honestly, I think a lot of people are riding Shanahan's reputation to justify his mistakes.
Or maybe in a wider perspective, the mistakes are simply the result of little too much delusion and a coach being a coach(win at all costs). He is going through mental purging right now and probably has smelled the flowers. He has no choice but engage in a rebuild or suffer even more of his own personal embarassment(shutout, 5 losses in a row). If his ego is as big as it is, the wounds must be critical now and he would finally be motivated to build this team the right way. I'm willing to give him a chance to do that, and hopefully he does do that.

I am a broken record on this topic but identify and draft the franchise QB in April AT ANY COST. There is no more time to sit back and hope one falls from the sky...Make it happen!
I would also resign Laron Landry & Fletcher assuming the deals are reasonable.
I would go after Vincent Jackson(unless he is franchised)...we need a #1 WR to help our young QB and we can't afford to just project one of our young players into that role.
Add 2 new OL to the mix. Our season went to hell when Lichtensteiger went down. Losing one Guard should not destroy your offense. It's clear we have no depth there.

In his defense, I think much of what's been done already is a rebuild, other than the McNabb trade. I think we should give him more credit for foresight than we do. He was out of coaching for a year & had a lot of time to study. He knew this team was a mess, a lot of that has changed even if we're not seeing wins.

I'll be honest if he wasn't MS then I'd be calling for a new coach, some of his decisions have just been down right stupid..
1. Trade JC
2. Trade for DM
3. Bring in Rex for DM
(Trade DM and don't draft a QB?)
4. Talk up Beck like he's the starter
5. Start Rex instead
6. Bench Rex for Beck
7. Bench Beck for Rex
ALL IN A 1 1/2 year span
WTF Dude????
1. A lot of people thought we should trade JC and JC was on the block well before Shannhy showed up
2. Didn't mind that but there should have been a move to develop someone
3. I don't know that he brought him in for DM, but as mentioned in #2, there should be someone they could develop
4. I don't think he ever hyped Beck up publically as much as others did
5. Staring Rex over Beck is always the right move
6 and 7. QB Shuffling is historically par for the course here, even in our best years

Yeah I mean hes a 2 time SB Champ but.... His tenure wont last much longer with these kinds of mistakes
His last few years in Denver were not real good and that's why he got fired. But I hope Snyder doesn't fire the guy. We need some stability around here. But I would not have him doing personel anymore cause he's proven that he can't get in done in that area. Let the scouts do their job.

Yeah
#1- I think we as fans were tired of JC as well. Atleast I was and still am.
#4- I wonder what exactly Beck was told cause I think it was more Beck hyping himself prior to the season saying he would be the starter.

On a side note I thought this was an interesting Mock 2012 Draft....

6. Washington Redskins (http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/team/washington-redskins/67062): Landry Jones, QB, Oklahoma: Redskins fans would be awfully happy to see Jones slip to the sixth pick. After passing on selecting Christian Ponder (http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/player/christian-ponder/1268618), Blaine Gabbert (http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/player/blaine-gabbert/1268607) and Andy Dalton (http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/player/andy-dalton/1268786) last April, and opting to head into the season with a Rex Grossman (http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/player/rex-grossman/140445)/John Beck (http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/player/john-beck/469585) two-headed creature at quarterback, Mike Shanahan would grab Jones if he’s still on the board come April. A 6-4, 240-pound three-year starter with perhaps the best arm in this year’s draft class, some pundits are higher on Jones than both Luck and Barkley.
