It's the FO's job to have competent reserves in place. Failing to maintain a certain level performance after an injury shows a failure to do that job.

In other words, our new GM is in over his head.

Look, I am just as pissed as the next guy to lose a game. But what we as Redskins fan have to look at is, are we headed in the right direction. Redskin fans have been buying into the hype for better part of 12 years that this is going to be our year. Spending ridiculous amounts of money on worthless players. These things have been debated to death. Throwing the draft picks out the window year after year.

What I am pleased with is the progress on both sides of the ball, personel wise. Young players at key positions, building depth, and mixing in some personel that actually fit into the system.

I am excited of the potential this team has in 2 or 3 years.

Listen to yourself, and think back to the first year of every new coach we have had since Gibbs retired the first time. Even with Zorn everyone was initially excited about the new regime. The whole thing(meaning franchise) is HYPE. You don't think Shanny and Allen could be all hype after all that we have experienced since the Cooks lost the team?

No, in other words our previous "GM" was so incompetent and big name hungry that our salary cap situation left no option for bringing in competent back up players and our new FO knows that when you build, you do it one step at a time. Regardless of basic fan stupidity(just to be cleared not calling anyone here stupid )

I can see the reasoning in not caring about the first two years of the new regime and chalk them up to pure rebuilding, but this is totally regressive and smacks of a FO that might not be entirely stable. Case in point, bringing in McNabb, only to toss him out within the space of less than one season. They knew we had junk at Qb so they did the bold move to acquire McNabb and get Grossman as the backup. Rail against Donovan all you want, but he was a lot better last season than Beck or Grossman this season. IF they were going to do a Dive for a Top 5 or Suck for Luck type thing, why bother even getting McNabb if they didn't care about winning now? Do you see my point. Why get a top FA QB and lose draft picks if you already know you have squat to work with, and will lose with the FA QB. Sorry, but that is a Vinny type move to me!!!!!!

Nope, as was said to me after the first game, ....injuries are no excuse ...all teams have them and must deal with them, "players need to step up".

Still the injuries affected your team, hence our win (now looking back). For our team the injuries is just one of the list of things that is wrong with this team.

Amen. As long as we are in the rebuilding mode, having a group of young guys stepping in now builds very quality depth. The returns on the experience is nothing but a positive and results will show in future. Blocks that sit around cant be built without a little action. These injuries though bad, bring indirect benefits.

By the way you are implying someone is stupid(namely me). Siging McNabb, then dumping him within a season for Grossman was Vinnyesque if you ask me. The move for Beck was a 180 degree move away from "Vinnyism" and getting the sexy big name, but still as asanine as a Vinny move. Getting rid of McNabb was wise, but not replacing him either via draft or FA was nuts. I guess my point is if they were going to wait to build the O line before acquiring the anointed QB via the draft, why bring in the big name FA QB then drop him like a dead fly before the first season is over. I have been a Skins fan since I was a boy, so I can endure this never ending rebuilding cycle we have been stuck in for 20 years, but what I don't like is a total regression within the space of one calendar year.

I honestly wasn't saying anyone was stupid, not you or anyone else on this forum.

I can give the explanation that I believe about McNabb, but overall I hated the move early and hated it at the end. But no front office gets every call right, and in the end if in two more years we still are rummaging in the basement of the nfc east then it will be time for a change. For me other than the qb, I think most of the moves have at least the potential to move us in the right direction, and I think that the whole FO knew that they were taking a new young qb in 2012 and the thing they were hoping or expecting with McNabb was to give a fresh start at qb, while setting up a positive change as the rookie got his feet going. Clearly they misjudged McNabbs ability in that respect.

My statement does not logically entail that.
