Could have drafted Ponder, Mallet, or maybe even Dalton. Hasslebeck and Palmer were there. A nice deal for Palmer would not have been so bad, although I wouldn't do it if I was a GM. The going to two QBs was also a dumb move, due to the history of both Beck and Grossman. Clemens could have been the one to surprise us all and we let him go.

Here would be Clemens' surprise:

Play three consecutive games where he plays very well against first string NFL defenses.

Now THAT would be a surprise...

Just saying Curmudgeon that Clemens could have been a steady hand for us, maybe just a game manager for us the way Flacco started out.

Gus:

I have seen Clemens play for the Jets in "for real games" not exhibition games against guys who had no chance to make an NFL squad. I don't remember the year; I think it was 07 but it might have been 08 and the game was against the Ravens.

He did not manage the game; he floundered.

If you want to argue that Clemens cannot possibly be ten steps lower on the ladder than either Beck or Grossman, I would probably agree with you.

If you want to assert that he is ten steps higher on the ladder than Grossman or Beck, I have to disagree.

Not saying either, just saying maybe give the guy a look under center, and hope for a miracle. Odds were way against it, but he might have been better than Beck and Grossman. Never said he would be 10 times better, but maybe barely better, with the emphasis on better. A fraction better is still better, but you are probably right. He sucked for the Jets.

Meh, Clemens didn't do much to distinguish himself. It could be just being green with the playbook, but he'd probably be the one being burnt at the stake if he made the roster over Beck. The grass is not always greener on the other side.

Gus:

Putting John Beck on the roster and under center is exactly what you say the Skins should have done with Clemens: "...give the guy a look under center, and hope for a miracle."

The Skins did exactly what you want them to do only they did it with a different guy who needs a miracle to be successful.

Here's an idea.

Change the name of FedEx Field to "34th Street" and play Kellen Clemens at QB on Christmas Eve against the Vikings and see if a Christmas miracle can happen on 34th St one more time.

It can't hurt...

It was nice to be w/o Landry's nonsense today...he makes our bad team less horrible, if that makes any sense.

I can't stand to watch another minute of Redskins football. I guess what I am trying to say is that I have given up on the season....you? I'm guessing probably since my attempt to sell two LL tickets to the 49ers game below face value resulted in no takers... fortunately my brother in-law's sons enjoy getting free tickets and going to FedEx for the atmosphere.

p.s. Message me if you're interested in buying tickets to the Patriots or Jets game and if you like being punched in the gut you can have both. I will give you a good deal.

My wife's school does an auction and in the past there were always a lot of Caps tickets up for auction but not much in the way of Skins tickets. Now its completely opposite, no Caps tickets all and about any Skins game you want was available. Looks like nobody wants Skins tickets anymore.

I am a lifelong Redskins fan back to the early 80's when were a Dynasty and one of the model teams in the NFL. The hardest thing for me is once we expected to win, now we expect to blow it or lose it somehow. I am tired of expecting subpar results and subpar decisions.
