SmootSmack 11-14-2011, 12:11 PM As terrible as our QB situation is, I tend to agree with you. I have no real qualms with this draft class as constituted. The only thing I would have liked to have seen in either the 2010 or 2011 draft was picking a developmental QB in rounds 4-7. I don't see any of the late picks we made in those rounds truly being an impact player for us so we could have been developing a QB to be no worse than a backup for the future.
I wasn't wowed by any of the rookie QB coming out other than Newton. Where we picked, I've got no issue passing on Gabbert, we didn't have a chance at Dalton in the 2nd round, there's no indication Mallett will be anything yet and we were smart in building through this draft and adding picks next year rather than trading picks to move up and around for a QB in the late 1st or 2nd.
Neither Beck or Rex will be on the team in 2012, I think we're going to draft a QB in the top 5 next year and add a free agent QB. I kinda wish we had added Matt Lienart in free agency to see if there was anything there but he may just be a lefty Beck.
Agree on the bolded parts.
I'm a bit surprised we didn't make a stronger attempt to get Leinart. You may recall I said even before we hired Mike Shanahan that Leinart was to keep an eye on, because Mike liked him a lot coming out of the draft. I suspect maybe Kyle isn't the biggest fan. But I don't know
Leinart and Young were the two FA QBs we were expected to go after. And Leinart we made a half hearted attempt at, and Young I think was more a victim of an extended lockout.
rypper11 11-14-2011, 12:38 PM All I want to know is what happened to all the vitality and life displayed by this team the first 4 weeks of the season? Did they lose all their confidence? Have they been possessed by some sort of demonic entity? Or is there a hug rift within the coaching staff and/or player ranks?
This team looks dead, I have seen them this feeble and dead since Spurrier days and that's saying a lot give that our last coach was Zorn.
What could have happened to the momentum and vitality of that 3-1 team? Oh yeah, a knee jerk swap of qb's to one who shouldn't start for most Div I schools unless they have a great OLine that can let him sit there for a full day. We'll see if Rex can inject some swagger back into the team in coming weeks or if they're too far gone.

ROTFLMAO!!!! yeah right!!!
SirClintonPortis 11-14-2011, 01:41 PM Rex, while certainly responsible for a good deal of the offensive woes on offense, is also being hindered by holes on the offense. One thing in particular is that we can't run in the red zone, so we're forced to pass. That makes the opposing defense's job a helluva lot easier since they don't need to commit resources to the run. We can try to fix this by improving the OL or finding a big target at WR. In fact, we must if we want a offense worth a damn, even with a franchise QB.

Not going to happen.
With mounting injuries to starters and rookies, no QB, only 1 real RB in Helu and defense that's getting worked up and down the field game in and game out... This team would need a direct injection of swag and Rex sure as hell isn't going to be the one to bring it.
firstdown 11-14-2011, 06:15 PM This thread isn't about selling my tickets, the stuff about the tickets is just anecdotal. I could care less about selling the tickets, I will be happy to give them as x-mass gift to family and friends.
Not much of a x-mas gift.LOL
Yesterday I was making fishing sinkers while watching the game and kind of just laughed as I watch our season sink.
#56fanatic 11-18-2011, 08:23 AM Brandon Marshall has never, ever been to this territory. But, I must remind myself, in two games, that could happen to anyone. (Just not Marshall.)
What???
He had 3 straight 100 catch seasons, avg of aproximately 1200 yards. He had 80+ for 1000 yards last season, and all ready 50+ for 740 yards. Have you forgotten what a dominant receiver Marshall use to be??

At some point you just need to be reliable in all parts of the field in most of the 16 games to be a number one. 100 catch seasons just aren't that rare in the modern game. And Marshall happens to have a couple of the least valuable ones of all time.

What are you talking about? Rex has swag in droves. His swag is so high the term swagger jackin originated from people feeding off his swag.
The only problem is his swag has filled his head with illusions of throws he can't make, like squeezing the ball in between 3 defenders.
Unfortunately swagger and production are two completely different things, and don't always go hand in hand.
