It's the FO's job to have competent reserves in place. Failing to maintain a certain level performance after an injury shows a failure to do that job.

Sir Clinton speaks the TRUTH!!!

You do realize that Fred Davis is a free agent after this year. If "everyone can see Fred Davis has grown into a good tight end" as you say, he might just wind up somewhere else next year...

Yeah, I hope we resign him. You see his value almost every week in the passing game. I mean Epic Fail if we let him go.

Listen to yourself, and think back to the first year of every new coach we have had since Gibbs retired the first time. Even with Zorn everyone was initially excited about the new regime. The whole thing(meaning franchise) is HYPE. You don't think Shanny and Allen could be all hype after all that we have experienced since the Cooks lost the team?

I am hoping the difference in this equation is Bruce Allen and Shannahan. Both are good personel guys, Snyder has seemed to back off and let them do their thing. I think the proof was the way the draft was handled this year, aquiring more picks (12) and playing youth. Playing Hankerson, Pauls, Austin vs going out and getting Ocho, or TO, or Moss. WHo doesn't think that one of these if not two of these guys would have been Redskins if Allen and Shanny were running things.

THey didn't jump on the 1st QB they could draft when they felt it wasn't someone that can win in the NFL. Which was Gabbert, and of all the rookies playing this year, he has looked the worst by far. These guys know what they are doing, I think there is a QB class coming out next year that is what they were targeting from the beginning. If this regime is allowed to continue this philosophy over the next two - three years and build through draft, play OUR young guys letting them gain experience, and add a key player here or there, I really think we are going to be on the right path towards competing every year.

f davis has been good for us this year but i dont think he is elite or irreplaceable. our passing game is short stuff, our TE catches the short stuff.

i see him as that guy on a bad NBA team who scores 24 ppg but has to take 30 shots to do it.

He doesn't compete for balls in tight spaces the way he should, resulting in 2 of Grossman's INTs vs. Philly, and one of Beck's vs. SF. He has compiled a good percentage of his receiving yards in garbage time, when games are already lost. I love how hard he runs after the catch, but I want to see him put forth the same effort going after the ball when it's in the air. I say re-sign him, but don't break the bank the way we did for Cooley a few years back.

Well I know we are rebuilding, I just hope that something is actually being rebuilt and not just some BS muddling through just doing stuff to look like the FO is actually doing something.

Considering that our draft picks this have actually shown some immediate impact, unlike 2008's picks, I think we do. Jenkins made noise and earned a starting job before his injury. Kerrigan, no explanation needed. Helu looks like the second coming of Portis, without the bad attitude. Hankerson had his first 100 yard game in his second start(unlike the eternity Devin Thomas took).

Trent looks serviceable at the very least. Rak is pretty good as well, although he isn't elite yet. We need to stay the course and draft well again next year, use free agency well, and pick up good UDFAs.
