Yeah i agree and he is the face of the entire team in my opinion. Of all the players we overpaid throughout Danny's tenure, Fletcher is one player that i would be cool with giving way too much.
From SFREDSKINS article:
That article is the best thing about the Redskins ive read in a while, thanks for posting it.
Does anyone know know where Fletcher's primary residence is? As good of a player is i wonder what team he would want to stay connected with after retirement. If this was his last year do you think he sees himself as a Redskin, Bill, or Ram?
This is something that we often overlook as fans, the very basic things in life we take for granted like a home, schools, etc. For most of us, the older we get the less inclined we are to pack up & move. Fletch is at the point of his career where he's certainly not likely to get enough $ to move solely for $.
He might go somewhere like NO, as Schneed suggests, because its simply a good fit, good coach & less adjustment. A lot of other teams might offer a chance for another super bowl, but he may not be inclined to want to start over again. I think he'll stay unless he feels insulted by the Skins contract offer.

Bruce Allen is no fool. He knows what Fletcher means to this Redskins team. He's a leader on defense, arguably the best MLB-ILB in the NFL. He knows Fletcher could very well be on his way to his 3rd consecutive pro bowl. If the Redskins can make Donovan McNabb a deal mid season in 2010, they can make London Fletcher a deal before free agency begins after the Super Bowl.
I'm very optimistic that Allen and Fletcher's agent will get a deal done very fast. The Redskins without London Fletcher is like the Baltimore Ravens without Ray Lewis. Not going to happen!!!!

I am going to tell you guys, I love London Fletcher. But if he wants the 7.1 million we payed him this year, we dont need him. Where have we really gone with him. I am sure we can get a young LB for 4 to 5 million and use the overage to help pay for another corner.

Since you invoke the name of Ray Lewis in your post, how can you also assert that London Fletcher is "arguably the best MLB-ILB in the NFL" ? Fletcher is the best defensive player on the Redskins; he is not the best MLB/ILB in the NFL so long as these guys are on NFL rosters:
Ray Lewis
Brian Urlacher
Patrick Willis
That list came off the top of my head; there could well be two or three others in the NFL who belong there but it is not worth the effort to go team-by-team through the league.

Navorro Bowman and Patrick Willis are probably the best LB duo in the NFL right now.

Bowman/Willis
Suggs/Lewis
Briggs/Urlacher
Those three tandems are all Outstanding. Given the age factor, I would take Bownam/Willis if I were starting a new franchise - - but that statement intends ZERO disrespect for the other two tandems...

As long as Fletcher is not looking for a big time payday, I'll take him back on the team any day. He's the best FA signing this team has ever made.

Fletch will be reasonable and we will resign him........
