I think 3 of the 5 listed wore burgundy and gold.
Duane Thomas was with the Skins in 74, and went into the stands at an exhibition game in Buffalo.
Matuszak git cut by Allen in training camp the next year, if memory serves.

Baddest Redskin ever
Wilbur
Marshall

They had to mean off the field also. It was only for on the field where were Ray Nitsche (sp), Dick Butkus, Conrad Dobler, etc.
Manley would definitely be on the list. Besides being a killer on the field, he had all the drugs problems too.

depends upon whether you want on field or off field behavior as your standard..

off field:
sonny-- had to leave philly because of his extracuricular business dealings
cherry-- a thug in every sense of the word
manley- sad case, but of his own doing
peters- blew a career because of off field drugs
nate newton-- made his mark as a cowboy but was a redskin for a year early on.
riggins- constant anti-social behavior
connell- a thug also
westbrook-- sucker punch your own teammate at practice??
malcolm barnard- how bad are you when al davis can't stand you??

on field:
chris hanburger- almost decapitated some players
charley taylor- perfected the crackback block and cost chuck howley a season
pat fischer- can you say dirty??
sean taylor- already moving up there
ron sellers- both on and off field issues
diron talbert- mean and dirty
ken houston- enforcer par excellance
joe jacoby- a mean streak onthe move
matt millen-- only sorry he only played a season or 2 for the skins

When i think of bad or mean nfl players,
I think of Ted Hendricks, Wilbur Marshall, Ronny Lott.

Dexter to me has been and always will be a overhyped jerk. No pity.

Meanest Redskin ever , one season, mike curtis.

I waited outside for autographs after a loss to the Giants 76 or 77, and the players were not in a good mood to begin with. Some Dad yelled across the lot, "Hey Curtis, to good to sign an autograph.?"
Curtis looked over with a sneer at the dad and said , loud enough for the dad to hear, but in a quiet manner, "I'll sign your face"

I would say maybe the baddest player we had but not off the field was Brian Mitchell, maybe the badest redskin in term's of toughness and aggression, Sean taylor will top off that list when it's all said and done.

Riggins anti-social? Haha, he is very much the opposite. He is a self-defined entertainer first, football player second.

LOL. I love stories like that. I've got a similar one. Someone mentioned the name Wilbur Marshall on this thread and it made me remember...

Back when I was in HS, my sister and I went to the OLD Redskin Park to get some autographs. It was after school and by luck, as we got there the players were coming out! We approached them as they came out and most were happy to oblige. Then came out Wilbur Marshall. He was the meanist looking dude I'd ever seen, never forget it. He had a big club-like cast on his hand from some injury. Anybody remember what year that was? (I think '88 or '89). Anyways, My sister got scared and said "I'm not approaching him". I thought to myself WTF? What's the worst that can happen? He'll kill me and I'll sue the Redskins and him. LOL

So I went up to him and was directly in front of him and said, "Mr. Marshall can I have an autograph?" He looked right at me with a look of death (for what like seemed like a year), took my pen IN THE HAND WITH THE CAST and signed his name FACING ME on a clipboard I was holding. It was a perfect autograph. It wasn't a scribble, it clearly said "Wilbur Marshall". Remember, he had a complete cast on and he wrote his name upside down! Then he put the pen back down on my clipboard and kept walking, never said a word. Scared the shit out of me.

My sis and I left shortly after that. I had to get home and put on a clean pair of shorts. LOL

If memory serves me correctly we had a thread on here and the conscensus was Darell Green was pretty much a total asshole off the field. I don't know if that makes him one of the baddest players, but I'm not sure he was the perfect Christian you envision. I believe it was SmootSmack who told a story about a local television station wanting to help out some other 'skins charity. Darrell Green called up and said he wouldn't do any more interviews/etc unless his charity was mentioned at the same time. I believe that was the gist of the story, maybe someone else remembers a bit clearer.
