GusFrerotte 11-06-2011, 10:14 PM Oh I understand that, but his weak delivery.. Poor reads, terrible pocket presence and did I mention weak delivery??
Only thing that I like about him is that he's not throwing the ball carelessly.
I know, I know, but he isn't Peyton Manning or even Tom Brady. He could turn out to be another Joey Harrington, etc, but ever see Terry Brashaw his first couple seasons? He was routinely booed. Not saying Blaine is going to be a great QB after season 3, he just might end up like poor Beck, but he is a rook, and some of these guys have long adjustment times. All his problems can be rectified in the offseason.
NC_Skins 11-06-2011, 10:15 PM Just watch football. That's all. As the commentators, analysts and literally everyone who gets paid to watch football has said, teams face all kinds of adversity including injuries and players turnover every year but the well coached teams respond in kind. Jeez oh man look at the Pack's road to the SB last year when they had 15 guys, many of them starters and stars, on IR.
You mean the same Green Bay team we beat? Yeah, and they played like crap to start out with when the new guys filled those injured roles. Once they got some games in, and a chance to gel they went on a run.
We were playing good, had injuries, so now young players are currently filling those spots and are learning on the job. That's how things go bro.

Ok very true, I guess I'm just not very optimistic with Gabbert.

The Packers also had good backups who didn't look like deer in headlights when put into action. Not to mention scouts like to scout out the Packers' sloppy seconds. Backups with skill are what put them over the top.

Why did you link Mike's post-game?
...he said we played focused and extremely hard lol. This guy isn't in the game. The feel of our gameday's right now reminds me of '07 just before Gibbs resigned. I thought it was obvious he'd lost the edge and especially on gameday. Williams was holding the team together. Right now Haslett and the defense are trying to hold the team together but Haslett isn't nearly as talented as Williams and of course Mike's history in DC isn't Gibbs history.

This whole "young guys" thing is really getting blown out of proportion..
Roy Helu is very equal to Torain (the second option) in productivity.
Hankerson, Paul and Austin play the same position.
Hurt isn't expected to ever be a full time starter.
Who's the other young guy? Fred Davis has been here forever it seems.. Trent is a 4th overall pick and better be able to step right in. Chester/Brown/Monty are all 28+.. Darrel Young is a dime a dozen player and it doesn't matter who plays his position..
I mean our defense is ready there's no question there.. so I just fail to see how we can use the logic of "letting the young guys play" as long as we have a crappy quarterback who won't be here in 8 games named John beck.
Even if Beck and Hankerson manage to perfect the over the shoulder fade, we're still looking at reforming that chemistry next year unlike the Packers and Rodgers.

Do tell us about all your experience in coaching so that we can get a handle on your qualifications to judge a coaching staff.
Don't need to be an ex coach to tell it like it is. The big problem a lot of us have is how the team is playing, and it is all too reminescent of the Zorn era. Losing is like a virus, and it is catchy. London Fletcher is getting frustrated and might decide to hang it up with this crap. The lockerroom might be lost to the coaching staff by month's end, if not sooner. A mark of any good coach is to adjust your game plan to the personnell you have to work with. Why didn't we run more of Helu? Even give Torain a few carries? Harbaugh is a rook NFL coach and seems to have his shit together more than the Shanahans? He is stuck with Alex Smith, not the best QB out there. What does he do? He focuses on the running game with Gore and K. Smith and only goes to A. Smith when he needs to or gives Smith a pass play on 1st or 2nd down on occasion to keep the D honest. Bottom line, he focuses on the strengths of his roster. Why did the Shanny put the game in Beck's hand? The guy is a deer in headlights!

This. Harbaugh is a turd but you cannot deny his talent as a coach. Alex Smith's accuracy has sky rocketed this year because Harbaugh built the scheme around him. LOL though when you said deer in the headlights I wondered if Beck or Mike is the deer!

Most people thought he was nothing but a college coach, not me.

Not saying you are wrong IR, Blaine could very well end up a dud, but most rook Qbs need to adjust to the pro game. At Mizzou he was on a very good squad that just couldn't compete with OU and OSU. NCAA the offense still has somewhat of a speed advantage that in the NFL practically isn't there anymore. He gets used to the speed of the game, and works out in the offseason in the gym and with the coaches/trainers, he might be a better QB in 2012. Then again, he might not have it to be a true NFL starter like you surmise.
