I think that Jacobs would be a good #3. He is maturing just like Patrick Ramsey and I think it is only a matter of time before he has a breakout game. The kid has some WHEELZ.

SmootSmack 01-15-2005, 12:40 AM OK so then you're essentially keeping Jacobs and Thrash in the same roles that they had this year, but hoping that Gibbs would utilize them more. I was looking along the lines of drafting a WR, not a #1 or #2 but giving Jacobs a shot at #2 or is he not ready for that yet? I would say that Jacobs should be given a shot at #2 but then if that means that Coles and Jacobs are your top 2 aren't they very similar? Don't you need a big, possesion guy as one of your top receivers? I think if we trade Gardner it shouldn't necessarily be to make room for another receiver not on our roster. I'd like to see Jacobs and McCants get more playing time, and a healthy Coles GoSkins! 01-15-2005, 11:21 AM I would say that Jacobs should be given a shot at #2 but then if that means that Coles and Jacobs are your top 2 aren't they very similar? Don't you need a big, possesion guy as one of your top receivers? ... Two speed guy work pretty well for St Louis. I think that we have the guys we need at wide reciever. Think about it... Coles - great receiver, should be healthier next season. Thrash - did pretty well in Philly when asked to be the number one guy. Can certainly be asked to be the number 2 guy. Jacobs - I think he is ready to make the push for the number 2 position and his speed will take some pressure of Coles. Gardner - has the size we want and is in a make or break year. A good receiver, but probably not the number two guy anymore. I think we trade our pick and get the guys we need for a monster o-line. o-lineman are less expensive, and with better blocking and protection for Ramsey, our receivers could have a great year. Daseal 01-15-2005, 12:53 PM They "could' have a great year every year. Honestly, with this being a contract year for Rod I could wait for a WR. I'd like to trade our first pick away for two next year if that's the case. Let rod have a good year, and trade him away. saden1 01-15-2005, 01:26 PM I just want to know when the invasion of Canada is going to begin. Daseal 01-15-2005, 01:53 PM haha, saden. Gardner has all the physical tools, and next year he knows every ball he drops means less money for him. I expect 0 drops! ;) saden1 01-15-2005, 02:12 PM Saden, who would rather have on your roster right now? Rod Gardner or Plaxico Burress? If you're smart you'd rather have Plaxico. Right? Plaxico is a timid fellow. He makes the great catches sometimes and misses that easy ones. Yeah, he is a bit better than Rod but not by much. djnemo65 01-15-2005, 04:19 PM The more I hear about the subject the more I think the Redskins should explore trying to sign Plexico Burress. Even though we have a high draft pick, Mike Williams is the only one I would feel real comfortable taking. The whole Braylan Edwards diagnosis is a little too Gardener-esque for my taste. I don't want to say trade down for Williams, but I feel that if we don't pick up a good WR in free agency that Williams may be one of the best, if not the best, pick up in the draft at WR. I disagree with what people have been saying about Edwards. He is a baller with a bright future in the NFL. Not only does he have the physical skills (which gardner had too of course so we know that's not enough) but he's a bigtime playmaker who can control the tempo of a game by himself. If anyone saw the game against michigan state, where michigan came back and won in OT, Edwards took control of that game on his own. They were double teaming him in the redzone, of course, and he was just shredding whatever they threw at him. I hope we take him, as I honestly believe he is gonna make it big time in the pros. The only criticism is that he drops balls, but they said that about Jerry Rice too. Daseal 01-15-2005, 07:43 PM I also like Edwards, but he does have a few Gardner like flaws. He also comes from the home of Desmond Howard. aehs77 01-17-2005, 03:37 AM He also comes from the home of Desmond Howard. Well thats a plus |
