Fans are so quick to pull the trigger, but never in positive way. Had we won 23-0 yesterday there would probably not have been any "We need to lock up Beck long term! "Kyle has to be named the official successor now!!!" "What are good hotels in Indianapolis? I'm booking my tickets for the Super Bowl TODAY!!!!" "Whatever Fred Davis makes we should triple it now!!!!" threads. But when they lose it's a fire sale.
When was the last time the fans made sense? Can't expect much logic after a shutout and a three-game losing streak. But agreed, firing Shanahan is pretty ridiculous at this point.

Yeah but who's going to be in charge of picking the QB? Cause right now, I simply don't trust the Shanahan's when it comes to picking a qb.
Mike Wise says his Quarterback picker is broken. He's "O" for so far.

Get some guys back from injury, continue to upgrade starting postions (ILB, Oline, QB) while building depth, draft a QB or a couple, maybe add a Vet QB to the roster. Keep the coaching staff intact...we will be fine. We are rebuilding.

I am not one of those fans. I've said from the beginning about LL and Hall and my thoughts about the two. I've also stated that we have no better option at this point and need to roll with them. My thoughts wouldn't have changed if we did win 23-0, and LL was a beast. I don't think one good year ended early by injury is a reason to lock up a person to a huge contract. I'm in the mindset that consistency should play a part in contracts, not flash in the pans. I understand you probably weren't talking to me directly with the quote, but I just wanted to respond anyway.
Also, I seriously want to punch any fan in the nuts that is calling for the Shanahans to be fired. I hate fans like that, and they are the exact clone of Snyder. You know, the guy they spend endless amounts of time hating and despising, yet they are JUST like him to a T.

You know, I've beaten the whole "rebuilding" drum for a while now, too. But I think I'm done with that. I know Shanahan was handed a pile of dogsh*t when he took over this team. Fair enough. But there are plenty of teams that go from very poor one year to playoff caliber the next. Look no further than this week's opponent. San Fran was a bad team last year. They're 6-1 and a near shoe-in to win their division at this point. And they're doing it with Alex Smith and for the most part a no-name offense. Sure their D is solid, but still. They're 6-1.
Shanahan has had his hands on this team for nearly two years. The defense seems to be heading the right direction, but the offense seems to be getting worse each week.
It was Mike and Kyle's decision to ride with the Rex/Beck train. Fail. It was their decision to ride with this garbage O-line bereft of any depth to speak of. Fail.
I know we're 3 wins "better" than the worst teams in the league after week 8, but I don't think we're really too far away from the St Louis and Miami's of the world.
We haven't had a franchise QB since, who, Joey Sunshine? Until we get one, it will be the same thing over and over, year after year.

How much OL depth do teams really have? I you lose two starters and it's pretty inevitable you're going to have some start some playing some retreads or inexperienced guys.
Beck is horrid. I don't care about the line .. Rex would have gotten rid of the damn ball at least. ****. and FIRE KYLE ALREADY WTF

I think Harbaugh did a good job sticking with Smith. I think he's mediocre performance in the past we pretty similar to Campbell, yet Harbaugh kept him around. I wish Shanahan would have stuck with Campbell during the rebuilding process. Had that happen, maybe we could have gotten our QB of the future sooner rather than later. Anything would have been better than wasting picks on McNabb and setting the franchise back a year.
