Is it just me or does anyone else thinks Banks needs to be used on offense? With Moss out for 5-7 weeks and Cooley on IR we need help. Brandon Banks is our fastest player and needs to get the ball in his hands alot more than just returning kicks. With the new kickoff rules he is a nonfactor so far this year. So why not get him some touches on offense. Banks did play WR at Kansas St. so he can catch the football. Banks has the speed to get on top of the defense and we could take some shots down the field. Who knows maybe he could get some PI calls our way. To me we need a guy that's a home run threat on the offense who can take a 10 yard pass 90 yards to the house. I hope Shannny gives Banks a few snaps very soon. The NFL is a passing league now so Banks has a advantage now with the new rules restricting the defenders from touching WR's anymore. Maybe Banks could be our vs of D-Jax.
I like BB, but everytime that guy gets hit I think he might not get back up. The guy is a willow the wisp type guy. I can see him getting jacked by a CB or S and game over for him, or he coughs up the ball. You have Austin and Paul as Wrs, and they show promise. Then you have AA which is your deep ball threat and JG who is the new #1. Hankerson needs to get in some reps to cure his dropsies, also. I can see BB being thrown in the mix as a WR from time to time, but I think eventually he would get destroyed.

Let's give him a chance, we might be surprised. Besides if he can handle himself on punt and kick offs he can handle himself. Can't hit what you can;t catch or can't see he is so small a bubble screen would fun to watch.

A KR or PR you have a few seconds til the defenders come, you have a cushion. In normal play you don't have everyone in front of you. I am not knocking his athletic ability here. Like someone said, he needs to eat a few perogies and gain weight/muscle.

Unforunately I feel Banks might go the way of Rock Cartwright; ST specialist only.
I always wanted to see Rock more in the RB position but his carries during his tenure with the Skins were rather limited.

A guy that small.won't get PI.. occasional holding.if lucky.. gonna beat someone or get picked... best bet is screen.. but then that formation gives it away cuz who is he gonna block? Unless they fake screen and go opposite side

he was serviceable, but nothing special. I think he's still in the league in oakland. he a competent 3rd RB/ST player and not much else.

I think he does need to be used more, but in what capacity is the question. I think he's perfect for the screens, slants, and to be used as a RB to get to the edge or when running wide.
I think the issue with him not seeing the field as a WR is he's small and probably not getting off the jam well enough. I guess they could use him in motion and force defenses to try and keep up with him.
im not sure he could run any route besides a straight up go route trying to go over the top but now that you say it, i could see him being effective maybe real effective on screens. now that moss is out and most of our wr screens went to him, i could see banks doing well with that route.
but slants, comebacks, out routes, putting him in motion is not an option imo. but who knows, if he does and completes strictly go routes and screens for a few games, he could set up a team down the road for some successful other passing plays that they didnt plan/anticipate.
i entered this thread thinking no way, "all banks could do is run deep and we have AA to do that" but i like the idea of giving him some limited looks at go routes and screens for a few games. i could def see him being a slippery bastard on some well executed screens on some 3rd and 5-8 yd plays.
