What Do You Think About The Randy Moss Incident?

I am not a Randy Moss fan and I wouldnt want him on my team,having said that I dont think what he did was that bad,my first reaction was to laugh,I think the announcers and the fox studio crew blew it way out of proportion,then not to even show it on sportscenter,give me a break,he didnt actually pull his pants down,then when I read the packers fans have a tradition of mooning the other teams bus when it leaves just reinforces my reaction,I thought what he did earlier in the game was worse,they showed him on the sidelines yelling at the packers fans,you could read his lips saying:look at the scoreboard motherfuckers!

Whatever. Just classless crap from Moss. I'm not gonna lose any sleep over it.

It wasn't any worse than Plummer giving the bird to his own fans! I think Dungy mentioned that the Packer faithful have a tradition of mooning the opposing fans' buses, so Moss actually planned ahead it seems.

I know that all the nerdy TV analysts like to whine about his "attitude" and everything, but Randy Moss is the coolest player in the NFL. Not the hardest-working, and not the best, and not the most team-oriented, but the fu**ing coolest. God, remember when he was wearing BRACES as a rookie? How bad-ass was that? He's got that super-cool, Smoot-like Mississippi drawl, and then the big afro yesterday just took the cake. I didn't think the mooning was all that creative, but who cares? Why can't a NFL player have fun when he scores a touchdown? Does anyone really honestly get offended by that stuff? Players have been doing this kind of thing for years, going back to Billie "White Shoes" Johnson's six-gun shooting after touchdowns in the '70s.

I wasn't at all offended by it. It would be different if he actually dropped his pants. I agree that he's done worse. I know he's a heck of a receiver, but personally I wouldn't want him on my team because he's too much of a loose cannon. And I don't think he has an ounce of respect for his coaches or his teammates. He's all about ME.
Having said that, I also agree that the mooning incident was blown way out of proportion. I was listening to the D.C. news on NBC last night. George Michael and Sonny Jurgenson were talking about it. Sonny said that even back when he was playing, the Redskins team used to get mooned by the Philadelphia fans as they were leaving on the bus - every single time they went there. So apparently there is some history behind his actions.

Unfortunately, while I think most of the folks who get offended by this kind of stuff are honorable people, they are deluding themselves if they believe that this game and those who participate in it are somehow above such lewdness.

Football is a vulgar sport. Football players are vulgar men. Football fans are, by and large, vulgar people.

Though desiring good sportsmanship and decorum is a noble aspiration, it overlooks the fundamental realities of this game, and the social and cultural forces that have shaped it.

I think it's sad that sportsmanship is an antiquated notion, but it doesn't surprise me. Look at the world we live in.

Moss is very typical of today's overpaid, overadulated sports all-star. He's an ego monster that was created by his agent, fed through the media, inflated by management, and reinforced by the fans. The 'fake mooning' incident in itself is no big deal to me, but just his overall 'look at me and f&^$ the rest of y'all' attitude is what really torques me off. How many people saw the pre-game interview with JJ? I couldn't honestly believe that a 'professional' that has been in the league for so long is still clueless about the spirit of the game, sportsmanship, and team play. Ya ask me, he's found Ricky Williams' secret stash and has been dipping into it on a regular basis.

Yeah, I didn't see a problem with his dance. I love seeing him jaw at the crowd. Why isn't a player, who I'm sure was bombarded by fans, allowed to speak back?

If we could afford him, I'd take Randy Moss in a second. He's turned into a leader, something the Redskins are sorely lacking, especially on offense. And we may lose our defensive leader too. Doesn't look like Arrington's willing to step up anytime soon.

Moss is often unselfish, playing through injuries just to make the other teams respect him as a decoy. He's THE BEST receiver in the NFL and he made plenty of mistakes when he was a young player, now he can't live them down. Anyone think he was selfish when he threw a pass over his head to Moe Williams last year?

I love a guy who's honest and candid. I don't want some politically correct bullshit from the players all the time.

His mooning of the crowd wasn't a big deal to me and after I heard Tony Dungy say that the Packers faithful do this to the visiting team as they pull away in their buses it put the incident in to perspective.

Moss is arguably the most talented WR to have ever played the game. Would I want him on the Skins? Well, considering our current cap situation I wouldn't, but if I was a GM with a bunch of cap room looking to make a big splash this offseason, I would take a long look at making a move for Moss if the Vikes are looking to unload him.

I thought it was hilarious. And I think that Joe Bucks reaction has fueled this outcry as much as anything. Buck acted as if Moss punched an old lady and stole her purse. Huge overreaction. And in most situations I think that players that cause controversy are not good for a team, but this guy is soooooooo good that anyone who would not want him on their team is kidding themselves. He would make Ramsey a probowler. Just throw it up there and he will go get it. Neither one of his TD catches on Sunday was necesarily a great pass by Culpepper. Moss just outfights every DB for the ball. You just need to have a strong coaching staff and veteran leadership to keep him in line a little bit. That being said the skins do not have anywhere near the cap room for Moss.
