John Beck needs game experience. But when I look back at the preseason, I'm wondering why Mike Shanahan didn't keep Kellen Clemens. Clemens has not only started more regular season games than Beck, he's also better than Grossman and Beck.
Well, I'm hoping John Beck finally gets on a roll and starts playing like a legitimate NFL QB.
I think Beck's really just a backup. I think he's better than he played last week and I think he could be an alright team leader but he's no NFL starter. Although I'm not sure why people are ready to throw the towel on Beck. The guy's played one game and people are ready to label him a QB pariah. This team right now is basically a ragtag group of backups at this point. We're only as good as what we're working with and offensively it's kinda grim-looking all around.
two games
.. and I'm ready to throw in the towel cuz Rex is the lesser of the two evils... I agree about crompton I think there might be some potential haha

My suspicion is that the reason Clemens is gone is because he has already started more games than Beck and so there is plenty of game tape on him to demonstrate that he cannot be a starting quality QB in the NFL. BEck is here because the jury is still out on his ability to be a starter.
I truly do not understand why Rex Grossman is here and was the starter on opening day - - unless his agent has pictures of both Bruce Allen and Mike Shanahan doing naughty things to barnyard animals...

But is he old school or new school Crompton? City of C(r)ompton is no longer a gangster's playground, it's been revitalized!
It's actually quite true... I actually make (day) trips out to C(r)ompton for the best bbq in LA!

Right now we have a good defense and a offense that can run the ball. We have a QB problem and Rex or Beck have to step up and manage the game. We understand that our passing game will not be throwing for 400 yards but 250-275 yards a game is not to much to ask for from a NFL QB. We need a balanced attacked to keep the opposing defenses honest. The NFL is a passing league now and points come in the passing game. The problem is we dont have a elite QB thus this limits our offense from scoring points. You get big plays when you can get the ball down field which means you have a o-line who can protect your QB. This season our o-line is better but now we have 3 new starters playing this week. We have a new QB getting his 1st start since 2007 so how will Beck handle the pressure on the road ? This will be a big test for our team because the Panthers are hungry for a win and we have a offense that has struggle to put points on the score board. This is John Becks time time to find out if he has the makings of being a NFL starting QB or just a backup clip board holding scub. Its put up or shut up time starting Sunday or else cause we cannot wait to draft a rookie QB to take your spot. GL Beck I will be watching your every move. HTTR
Well so far the jury is out on Beck and he has not proven he can be the man thus far. He better play better this week or Rex may get his number called again soon.

I think it's what I said in the game day thread, Rex is a statue in the pocket, panics under pressure and is going to have a higher INT to TD ratio. If Rex finished the year you'd probably see something like 16-20 TDs, 32-40 INTs, if he was on pace to throw 1-2 TDs a game, and 2-3 picks a game. So these could be more or less, tweak them as you see fit. But there was no way he'd finish with more TDs than interceptions. And this was Rex working with a healthy team.
But those are pretty awful stats and not one you'd wanna see out of a guy supposed to be your #1. The only people with a worse QB rating than Rex is Gabbert (a rookie) and Matt Moore (A guy on a winless team)
I still think it's too early to judge Beck. He's not going to be "our guy" either. That's obvious. But for some reason I just feel safer with him over Rex for this season. And I could be totally wrong. Beck might actually be God awful. Although I hope I'm not cuz switching back and forth at the QB position has got to be awful PR.
And keep in consideration with Moss and Cooley gone, it seems Fred Davis IS the Redskins offense, seeing as nobody is stepping up offensively yet.
It took us 5 3/4ths games to judge Grossman. Although hell, people were judging him when we were 3-0 (Admittedly, I was one of them). I'd say give Beck this game, and that Miami game. Because if we sh*t the bed against Miami, we can pretty much just bury this team and our QBs along with it.
