I thought Beck played ok but the INT near the end of the game was a killer. You just cant make that throw with a chance to still win the game. Beck played decent enough to win but as I expected it was similar to Rex. It was the D that killed this team today.

That int was on hankerson. He had no idea what route to run, so he ran a go route. Beck was clearly expecting him to turn around and come back towards the sideline. That's on Hank for not knowing the playbook.

Hankerson's on Twitter bitching and moaning about the INT. Saying people should stop blaming him if they weren't in the huddle. I'm like, dude save it.

Anywho, after he settled down Beck had a solid game. Hopefully he get's more comfortable in the system and finds his grove.

But I counted at least three or four plays where Rex would have either taken a sack or thrown an int. The guy has some nice wheels.

Beck played better then Rex no doubt. I'm satisfied with his performance but the D didn't do their job today.

Bullee DAT. Beck's mobility is way better than Grossman's. After the sack/strip, Beck really settled down and was able to sense the pressure better.

Bad first half, but he showed a little mojo in him in the second half. We'll see if this is his best or if he can improve. As for Hank, he can ****ing die.

beck looked below average considering the caliber of D he was facing . . he was basically facing the john beck of defenses .. . . not that rex or any other qb on our roster would do better . . . what was carolina? 31st entering today?

Yes. Beck was not bad but he was not great: he missed open receivers, threw into double coverage, and was lucky not to have some balls picked (the actual INT was not his fault).

We have low standards if we think that Beck was really good.

Right now we need a game manager. The way the rushing game started out, it looked promising. Beck just needed to hang in there and not make too many mistakes, give the ball to the running back, and not make stupid throws. Like it or not, our defense let us down today. How many drives of the Panthers started inside their own 10? Beck doesnt have the stature to win games for us, at least not yet. He does have what it takes to manage a steady game into victory. Recievers need to catch and our defensive backfield needs to wake the hell up.

I'd give him the ambiguous grade of needs improvement. But, as I see it, there is room for some hope. If he fails as a starter, then he'd be a good backup for us at least.

I think Beck did well considering circumstances...and by circumstances I mostly mean play-calling, dropped passes, some poor route running and a generally underwhelming WR corp. In the 1st half Kyle called a good deal of running plays, which was smart. It got the o-line rolling and Hightower was racking up the yards. The sporadic pass plays didn't give Beck an opportunity to get into rhythm, and since it was his first pro start since 2007 I'm sure he'll need to feel in a rhythm for awhile at least to be effective.

In the 2nd half Kyle went away from the run, which helped Beck out and showed everyone the guy is capable of managing the game and minimizing mistakes and turnovers (compared to Rex) but I think Kyle had the wrong strategy. We should have run the effing ball down their throat and controlled the clock i.e. slowed the game down. It's sort of gotten ridiculous how little opportunity Helu gets.

So yeah my impression is Beck will be good enough to win once he gets comfortable and if we start pounding the rock. I don't trust Kyle to do this. I'm wishing more than anything Mike would take over the offense at this point. It's stupid to say Kyle would have more success if we had the right personnel to fit his scheme, because we don't. We don't have a top tier WR and QB, let along one of either. Pound the rock and stop effing around.

And obviously the defense needs to show up for Beck's performance to matter at all.
