Terpfan76 10-22-2011, 02:29 AM At least Beck is mobile. All the Eagles had to do was stack the box and force Rexy to throw the ball. As soon as he started getting pressured, he crumbled. At least with Beck, he can take off and run or buy time for receivers to get open. He gives us a much better chance to win than Rexy. Thank God we only signed Rexy to a one year deal lol
SirClintonPortis 10-22-2011, 02:36 AM lol,IDk,gotta be one in their somewhere!
His game against the Giants was a pretty damn good one.
zeesson 10-22-2011, 05:01 AM Exactly, its not pointless. We need to know the facts before saying grossman sucks blah blah blah.Theres too many people calling out rex and saying how bad he is dismissing any evidence otherwise.Having said that I do think we need to switch to Beck at this point.I feel bad for rex but with our off line situation I feel we just cant have a staue in the pocket.I have no grand illusions of beck lighting it up,thats most likely not going to happen{except everybody has 1 great game,so its possible}Just feel we need someone that can avoid some of the sacks that our headed our way
I don't think people are dismissing any evidence. Instead it's the evidence that has us convinced that he sucks. He doesn't suck because of what he did in that one game, hell, even Brady had a 4 INT game this season. He sucks because he has always sucked. He fooled us into thinking that he had matured as a passer, and had grown as a QB, and cut out some of the boneheaded mistakes, that costs his team games in Chicago, but he hasn't.
Now some people say "What he did in Chicago doesn't matter". BULLSHIT!!
Imagine the following: There is a man that has just gotten out of jail, after serving 25 years for multiple murders. The community is divided. Side A is protesting on his front lawn. They are saying "He's a murderer, lock his ass back up". Side B, his supporters, are saying "He served his time, give him another chance to be a productive member of society". Now, side A has clearly judged this man prematurely, he could very well have turned his life around, found Jesus in a water stain, or any other manner of redemption. It's logical to be cautious around this man because of his past, but it's not fair to assume that he is going to hurt someone, or something. But then...dun dun dun!!! He kills again. There is no question that we need to put his ass under the prison, and never look back.
This murderer is Rex Grossman, except he doesn't kill people, he kills drives; and he's been doing it for as far back as I can remember. We all hoped that he'd turned over a new leaf. We saw him with his Bible (Playbook), he was saying all the right things, and doing all the right things. Even had an endorsement from the man upstairs (Kyle Shanahan, see what I did there?) but there was something under the surface there, where you could just tell that it was only a matter of time before he killed again. None of us wished this, we just saw it coming. What I don't understand is how many more drives half to die at his hands before the rest of you are convinced.
Please forgive the long, drawn out, serial killer metaphor. But you gotta admit, it was pretty damn good. I don't have the energy to keep it up.
Gtothearry 10-22-2011, 05:32 AM His game against the Giants was a pretty damn good one.
For him that was a great game but it wasn't a "Great" game by otehr qb standards. Just a game to be happy with.
21-34 for 61.8% 305yds 2td's and a fumble........i'd take that all day with Rex and about any other qb we have had in the past 15 years. So, maybe it is great........lol
skins89moss 10-22-2011, 09:57 AM Right now we have a good defense and a offense that can run the ball. We have a QB problem and Rex or Beck have to step up and manage the game. We understand that our passing game will not be throwing for 400 yards but 250-275 yards a game is not to much to ask for from a NFL QB. We need a balanced attacked to keep the opposing defenses honest. The NFL is a passing league now and points come in the passing game. The problem is we dont have a elite QB thus this limits our offense from scoring points. You get big plays when you can get the ball down field which means you have a o-line who can protect your QB. This season our o-line is better but now we have 3 new starters playing this week. We have a new QB getting his 1st start since 2007 so how will Beck handle the pressure on the road ? This will be a big test for our team because the Panthers are hungry for a win and we have a offense that has struggle to put points on the score board. This is John Becks time time to find out if he has the makings of being a NFL starting QB or just a backup clip board holding scub. Its put up or shut up time starting Sunday or else cause we cannot wait to draft a rookie QB to take your spot. GL Beck I will be watching your every move. HTTR
joeyt56 10-22-2011, 10:19 AM With all do respect, does it really matter who our QB is this year? Yes, rex was awful and single handedly lost the philly game for is. Im glad beck will start, simply to give me more
Of an optimistic outlook for the rest of the season. But if anybody doesnt realize rex or beck were nothing more than a stop gap then you arent paying attention. We passed QB after QB up last year due to all mediocrity. This season is the, "Year of the QB" shanny saw this coming and will draft our future with building blocks behind him. If Beck can win us 50% of our games thats fine with me! #thefuture. HAIL!!!!!!!

It does matter because continuing with Rex would cause the team as a whole to decline. If Beck plays better then we at least keep the team intact (continuity) until we get the "future QB" on the field.
Everyone here knows what we had with Rex going in and we also recognize that Beck may fall flat. But, Beck may also emerge. Altho rare, it would not be the first time a guy like Beck surprises.
HTTR!

To the guy who Rex BEAT OUT to win the job against? I remember that last preseason game with Beck where he threw into traffic and made some very bad decisions.
KI Skins Fan 10-22-2011, 12:32 PM Hopefully, we can all agree that the best thing that could happen is for John beck to be successful as our starting QB. I have not been a Beck supporter but I have also been wrong before about people. It would be a pleasure for me to be wrong about John Beck.
If Beck is able to do a good job as our QB, it won't prevent the Skins from drafting a QB of the future, rather it will reduce the pressure to play that young QB before he is ready.
Let's all hope for two other things, as well, to help him succeed:
1. Let's hope that the Shanahan's will find a way to get the running game going and use it effectively.
2. Let's also hope that, when we pass, Kyle Shanahan will call plays that take advantage of both the running game, such as play action, and John Beck's strengths as a QB, such as roll outs.
I'm excited to see what happens on Sunday.
