NC_Skins 11-03-2011, 03:28 PM You say we should close corporate loop holes. Then you propose new ones. I say close corporate tax loopholes, period. I would say they were incentives to improving the quality of lives with their employees. Overall, I do think most of the corporate loopholes need to be closed. Some of this shit is ridiculous. mlmpetert 11-03-2011, 03:29 PM 1) Close any and all corporate tax hole loops. By making a flat corporate tax? 2) Give tax breaks to companies that create jobs and maintain them. i think this is already being done and is one of the reasons many of the 280 big companies in the artical Chico posted pay little taxes 3) Impose huge tax penalties for any American Corp with jobs overseas, who's products are shipped to the US. (make it high enough to where it's less costly to have the plant here) So my Air Force 1s are going to go up in price from 100 to 500 and my Motorola Droid is gonna be like 2k (1k w/ 2 year contract), but i guess i can still buy a Nokia for like 50 bucks. Or perhaps every company that manufactors something will just move overseas.... 4) Give tax breaks to companies for providing health care benefits. In addition to the write off they receive? 5) Give tax breaks to companies that reinvest money back into the company. (employee raises(not CEO), additions/buildings added, research and development) Already done, much like how healthcare costs reduce profits I'll come up with more later when I can research what the numbers are across the world. How about just a low flat tax on corporate profits that makes America, from a tax standpoint, the most competitive in the world? It doesnt matter if youre GE or a S Corp like Firstdown, everyeone pays a extremly low flat % on profits. Would you be cool with that? Lotus 11-03-2011, 03:46 PM Occupy the Redskins backfield! Who's with me? Oh, wait, the Bills did that 10 times. Nevermind. Slingin Sammy 33 11-03-2011, 03:47 PM Any volunteers to draft a revised corporate tax code for us? Anyone? Anyone? How about a committee of SS33, Lotus and NC_Skins? Get back to us with your result by next Friday please. Here's my input, before the deadline thank you, U.S. Corporations should not pay federal taxes. I'm a FairTax person. Unless Cain is elected POTUS, I don't see FairTax being implemented, so a lowered corporate rate (revenue neutral) with no loopholes at all would be my preference. 3. Executive pay: Somehow this needs to be addressed. The fact that, for many corporations, executive compensation is divorced from the success or failure of a company (i.e. the "Moral Hazard" mlpertert referenced earlier in the thread - I think it was mlpertert). Not sure, this is a tricky one for a lot of reasons. I suggest a working group of Smootsmack, Chico, saden1 and mlpertert analyze the problems and come up with possible proposals and come back to the group with a working solution by next Friday.I'll weigh in here if you don't mind. The Federal gov't has no right to dictate wages or compensation a corporation pays its employees. I support, if it's not already there, that publicly held companies be required to publish the compensation of its board and also key executives that make over a certain dollar amount (not sure what that amount should be). Let the public decide if it wishes to continue to subsidize high executive/board compensation by either continuing or not continuing to buy that company's product/stock. Firstdown, your job is just to keep bitching about the vagrants and hippies in Zuccotti Park.I wanna help bitch about hippies and late teen/twenty something blockheads too!!!!!! (I've got an 18yr old, I need to vent) Slingin Sammy 33 11-03-2011, 03:48 PM Occupy the Redskins backfield! Who's with me? Oh, wait, the Bills did that 10 times. Nevermind. With the way our OL played on Sunday, you and I probably could. CRedskinsRule 11-03-2011, 03:52 PM How about we give MNC's 2 senate seats, and include them in the census with x number of Congressmen. Then, we say they can only spend campaign funds on those two senate seats and the elections for their congressmen. They could become the 51st state, CorporateAmerica, we could add DC statehood as well, just so the flag stays balanced. Also, they all have to register, so that in time of war they can be drafted. NC_Skins 11-03-2011, 03:58 PM How about just a low flat tax on corporate profits that makes America, from a tax standpoint, the most competitive in the world? It doesnt matter if youre GE or a S Corp like Firstdown, everyeone pays a extremly low flat % on profits. Would you be cool with that? Seems legit. Not sure if these people wouldn't still in turn ship jobs overseas. Something HAS to be done in regards to these corporations shipping US jobs overseas. Your example of your Nike Air Forces becoming $500. Well, realistically people would stop buying them and move to another product. The loss of revenue would make the corp either go bankrupt or decide to move their factories back to the US. I wasn't really familiar with how Corps were evading taxes, but it does seem many get tax breaks from many of the things I've listed. Break-Free Corporate Tax Code Misses Republican Rate Goal - Businessweek (http://www.businessweek.com/news/2011-11-03/break-free-corporate-tax-code-misses-republican-rate-goal.html) We've been lowering taxes for Corporations and rich people since the Regan era and it's done nothing. What would lowering corporate taxes do now? Good info here on 10 big corporate tax breaks: 10 Big Corporate Tax Breaks, and Who Benefits (http://www.thefiscaltimes.com/Articles/2011/02/09/10-Big-Corporate-Tax-Breaks.aspx#page1) Slingin Sammy 33 11-03-2011, 04:25 PM No. I'm saying if you run across a slanted (whether right or left) type of article that pertains good information, one needs to weed out the finger pointing. Notice I didn't say anything about the Republicans being at fault. I posted it to show that "hey, this is personal" in regards to the OWS movement. This will be my last response on this particular issue with you since you either choose to ignore or are missing my point. Here you say, "if you run across slanted info....etc." However, you do nothing but crush Fox News any time you mention them. Fox News provides excellent information. Hannity, O'Reilly, etc. are not "news" they are opinion shows. You check the ratings for Fox lately....oh right, that doesn't matter they just pander to idiots or those "stuck in a D vs. R mentality. You didn't say the "Republicans were at fault", but the writer of the article sure as hell did and nowhere in this thread (unless I missed something) did you mention you disagreed with that point. The article you posted was far beyond slant, it was written by a Dem strategist, provided little to no facts, those provided were wrong or distorted, and the article concluded by blaming the GOP. So you claiming this "down the middle" or "all Ds & Rs suck equally" position is disingenuous. I'm conservative, and I usually vote R, why am I going to defend a Dem or liberal position or a negative crack made at them? First off, I normally disagree with liberal positions and second there's plenty of folks here that are more capable and willing to defend that side of the aisle. They would do a much better job than I. I'm not stuck in a D vs. R thing, I simply don't agree with a majority of what you post in the politics threads. When you stomp on positions/policies I support or advocate those I don't, I'll speak up. Instead of "$hitting on all politicians" equally and not responding when someone discredits your "$hit". How about you put together a coherent response or don't "$hit" until you've got your facts straight. |
