Joy......I wonder if Pee Wee Herman and Rebecca Black do power rankings too.

Would we be doing this if we were 22nd?

I still remember coach approval polls from Zorn's first 8 games (think it was via SportsNation) at 6-2 he was the next great thing (I bought into it too)

Horny for Zorny ≠ Shannyman

in fact, in algebraic terms:

Zorn <<<<<<< Shanahan

OR

Shanahan >>>>>>> Zorn

Take your pick...

When you are ranked high, power rankings matter.

When you are ranked low, they don't matter. :)

And that Zorn koolaid (which I also drank) was like kid's cough medicine: sweet at first but a terrible aftertaste.

Lotus ftw. My first thought when I saw this thread was how come we don't do this when we're losing?

Thanks in part to relatively mistake free play, inconsistency of our adversaries, we have a ranking worthy of mention.

Power Rankings in football haven't been much fun for me since the Caps started regularly appearing in the top 3 on the NHL power rankings. Now everytime I see my favorite team ranked outside the top 5 I feel like we're a huge failure. Flowers for Algernon type deal.

Still no need to get ahead of ourselves. This time in 2008 we were ranked 3rd by ESPN after having been ranked 6th the previous week. After a loss to the Rams we dropped to 5 where we stayed until that wonderful Monday Night Contest against the Steelers.

The knee jerk reaction of power rankings is what gets me. A team wins a few games, and somehow instead of below average, they are above average, or jumping 10-15 spots in their rankings.

The redskins are still an average team, so anything above 15 is too much.

yeah, 12-16 is where i'd put us... i honestly wonder if some of these guys even watched a single redskins game.

our offense isn't what it needs to be, though our D has been pretty good.

Surprised that Don Banks at SI.com puts us at 10. Isn't he the one who said a few years back that we were "the worst 3-0 team in NFL history"?

Jerk.
