Redskins vs. Rams: Brian Orakpo and Ryan Kerrigan are becoming quite a duo - The Washington Post (http://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/redskins/redskins-vs-rams-brian-orakpo-and-ryan-kerrigan-are-becoming-quite-a-duo/2011/10/02/gIQA13fUGL_story.html)
Ironically Rob Jackson isn't to bad either. Granted his penalty today was a little boneheaded but when Rak has gone out with nicks and bruises these past two weeks I haven't been to worried about the dropoff, even though it's a relatively steep one from Rak to Jack.

I've always liked Jackson and I can guarantee you that the other 7th rounder Markus White is another sleeper to keep an eye on.

Couple of points:
1. Not sure if we can say Kerrigan is ROY with Von Miller playing like he has been.
2. Orakpo goes up against left tackles which are best prized bulls in the NFL.
3. Kerrigan benefits greatly from extra attention paid to Orakpo. Until Kerrigan proves he is more worthy than Orakpo of those double teams I dont think we can say he is better.
4. Kerrigan is a beast and I am so happy we have him and Orakpo.

Agreed on the first point, but at the same time we have to consider as good as Von Miller has played Kerrigan still beat him out for Defensive Rookie of the Month. If Kerrigan can put up good stats from game to game like he's been doing there's no reason it won't be a close race.

I really think the penalty was kinda stupid. Rob couldn't tell he released the football yet and was just finishing the play. Hit him square and tackled him. Nothing wrong with that in my eyes.
You let go of him, and he still has the football? We get a flashback of what Eli did in the Super Bowl

Just wanted to point out on NFL.com, that we're ranked 5th overall in the league in Total Defense.
6th in Rush Defense.
Tied for first w/ Philly for most sacks in the league (15).
Tied for 7th in the league in pass defense.
5th in scoring.
2nd in TD's.

Stephen Bowen is very under-appreciated. I'm actually pretty ecstatic that they signed him instead of Cullen Jenkins. Granted Jenkins is playing well right now (4 sacks in 4 games) but Bowen has three years on him and is constantly getting pressure. The good thing about Bowen is that he'll still be playing well when this team is ready to compete for the NFC East every season (2013- if all goes well in the next two drafts).
Jenkins is a better player now, and probably would have been a better use of the money we spent b/c his "cheap" years would have been more valuable to us on the front end. But considering the way we did go (probably overpaying Bowen), we came out alright.

It would really be hard to compare these two players.....Orakpo is a destroyer, while Kerrigan is a guy that makes plays and is incredibly heads up.

Actually come to think of it, I'm starting to wonder if Bowen is underpaid. In fact I found myself thinking earlier today "this is the type of play they were hoping to get out of Haynesworth last year." The sack is just the icing on the cake. His impact has been more then basic numbers he's posted on his own sheet.
