Cris Carter's takedown of Calvin Johnson - NFC North Blog - ESPN (http://espn.go.com/blog/nfcnorth/post/_/id/29806/cris-carters-takedown-of-calvin-johnson)

Quite simply put. He's a idiot and a hater.

Agreed. But that has nothing to do with what he did on the field.

What's with all of the Chris Carter hate? Am I missing something?

As for the argument against Parcells, what a bunch of crap. Namath, Stallworth and Swann being HoFers? Now that is pretty silly.

Apparently I am not the only one to feel this way. Parcells was in the first cut of finalist.

The question was why did people hate on him. (especially skins fans)

The question was why did people hate on him. (especially skins fans)Simple answer - Carter was a hater on Monk getting in. Carter was perhaps the best sideline receiver of all time, but he never had the speed to stretch the field. He also benefitted by a huge number of short TDs (under 10 yards) that Skins receivers rarely got because of the Hogs and a stellar red zone running game. When I hear Carter bash the likes of Larry Fitzgerald and Calvin Johnson, I just laugh, because he was never as impactful as they are. I challenge anyone to find a clip of Carter taking a 5 yard hitch, and turning it into a 70 yard TD with his speed. He was a great posession receiver, and great on end zone fades, but was not a guy that you had to gameplan against like a Randy Moss, Fitz, or CJ.

Namath was the first QB to ever pass for 4,000 yards in a season made even more exceptional because he did it in a 14 game season, led a mediocre team in the greatest SB upset in history, won the AFL rookie of the year and had 21 300 yd passing games in an era when the rules where stacked against passing the ball.

Who cares if he caught short TD's? Carter has something like 130 TD's and 13,000 plus yards. He's in real select company. Just cause he's an opinioned dick doesn't mean he should be kept out of the HOF. If you asked the guys that had to cover him they'd probably all say he was a truly great player.

Same could have been said for Monk, it didn't stop him from getting the screw job for 8 years.

The HOF voters can deny it all they want, but off the field stuff plays into their decision making. He'll get in eventually.

I agree 100%. What was done to Monk was just wrong.
