i agree with the fine and how the fine system is structured...however, people make such a big deal out of it...the guy was doing his job. the players realize that if they get out of hand, they will be fined...this is why it doesn't happen that often...
and those guys dying at 43 is a bit of a stretch...it's the hazard in participating in that job/sport.
the Darius hit was brutal, but not dirty. robert ferguson even said so himself, that it is part of the game...

Why do we lean towards caution now? Maybe it's because players that used to fly around and play like that are dying at age 43. Maybe that's why.
Are you somehow trying to tie this hit to Reggie White's death?

Not Smootsmack - I just happened to use his age which for some reason popped into my head. Football players do die strangely early often times.
Cpayne: It's not like Lynch hit him in the shoulder pads and slid up. He put his helmet right to his from the begining, and it didn't look like he was aiming anywhere else. Especially for a guy with a history. It was a dirty hit and I bet he'll think before he goes helmet to helmet again. If he hit the guy and slid up, that's not his fault.

I didnt see the hit. But this game is played at full speed. Its not like the guy was standing there and lynch had his choice or where to hit him. Usually when you hit a guy in the head you are on the run and diving, or the guy goes over the middle and you are smacking right into him. Either way you dont have a lot of control. You can try to go low or something but these guys are trying to make plays. Its a contact sport, shit happens. Dirty hits happen after the play in my opinion, nothing is dirty during the play.

That is a great line.
