I don't want to see a lot of firings this year becasue I am afraid Greg Williams name is going to come up as a replacement. That would be just our luck lately...

I beleive Danny boy has allready put that on the table to keep williams around and I think he enjoys working with Gibbs.

I hope so but 5 years is a long time to wait. Money means nothing to these coaches once they become millionaires. They are all set for life. If a good opportunity comes up he is going to have a hard time turning it down for a job that might be there for him in 5 years. WHat if in years 4 or 5 of Gibbs tenure his defense is not as good as it is now and Danny has second thoughts? I don't think he will jump at any opportunity, but if a good franchise offers him a head job I would be worried.

When Ericcson got the job I was flabbergasted. He of all people did not deserver a head coaching job. Same goes for El Norv’el.

I hear what yer saying, but he will not go to San Fransico. I dont think anyone is going to want to go into that mess right now, there is just nothing to work with whatsoever.
However, that Cleveland Job looks pretty appealing I would think, so I'm hoping that gets closed up soon. Either way I dont think Williams is gone this, year. I'm more worried about next year for him. Personally I think Gibbs might be 3 years and then turn it over to Williams, at least thats how I would like it to work out.

Everyone familiar with the 49ers knows that the organization is extremely dysfunctional under the abysmal stewardship of owner John York. York is the husband of Denise DeBartolo, the sister of former owner Edward DeBartolo. No one would want to work with the 49ers who would think they had a shot to get hired almost anywhere else.

In addition, GM Terry Donohue is going to be leaving out there so they will be looking to restructure the whole operation. Everything you hear and read about John York is negative. It seems as if he is the 2005 version of Mike Brown.
Williams may take a top job somewhere, but I suspect he will realize that the SF gig is a ticket to a losing record...
That sad sack of a team will take a minimum of 3 years to turn around.
