He is a class individual and it is a shame it couldn't work out here. Here is a good article from the Boston area if you want to read it:

Andre Carter finds what he wanted with Pats - BostonHerald.com (http://bostonherald.com/sports/football/patriots/view.bg?articleid=1366189&format=&page=1&listingType=pats#articleFull)

“There were just times I felt uncomfortable (as a linebacker),” said Carter, whose team went from a 4-3 scheme to a 3-4.

Carter was due a $4.1 million option bonus last offseason, which he figured was unlikely to be paid. The sides could have hammered out a new deal. Instead, Poston met with Redskins general manager Bruce Allen to set him free.

“The first thing I asked (Allen) was, ‘What were your future plans. We would really like to ask for a release,’ ” said Poston. “Sometimes, if the player indicates that he wants to go in a different direction, the team might allow him to do that. Bruce Allen said, ‘If (Carter) feels like that’s what he wants to do, we’ll go ahead and release him.’ ”

Carter’s release happened on March 1.

Through a Redskins spokesman, Allen said recollections from the Carter camp are “true.” He also described the parting as “mutual.” The respect from both sides was clear.

Nice to see our organization is treating the good guys with respect, even if they don't fit here any more.

Good luck AC

HATED to see AC go....but it was clear the 3-4 was not working out for him. I to am very glad the organization treated him with respect that he deserved and willing to honor his release.

Carter is a kind of guy that you want on your team. Thanks for the thread.

What do you expect? He went to Cal just like Lorenzo Alexander, Nhamdi Asomugha, Aaron Rogers, Alex Mack, Tony Gonzales, all of them class acts. The only punk out of Cal is Desean Jackson.

Even though Carter was never meant to be in a 3-4, he gave it his all while he was here and we all know that's not something to be taken for granted around these parts. He was a fine player in his own right as a 4-3 DE and I wish him future success, because he was one of those guys we never had a problem with the entire time he was here.

Always liked AC & thought he grew as a run-stopper here, always was a good pass rusher. Too bad he & Jarmon couldn't make the transition. I wish rosters were bigger & guys like AC could stay in a backup role. He can't play OLB but he could be a situational DE in nickel.
