Yep -- I'm beginning to have the same concern. You draft a O-lineman that high, you should be getting a "shutdown" left tackle. By Chris Samuels' second year, he was dominating just about every DE he faced.
Samuels was much more of a technician than TW will probably ever be.
TW just needs to keep working, it just might take him a little longer than Samuels to get there.
FRPLG 09-12-2011, 09:53 AM The safety play was painful to watch. Atogwe did what he's pretty much done his whole career: he plays most of his game off the television feed. But that cover two out route that Manning got complete to Manningham under duress was far too easy of a throw. A good safety breaks up that pass pretty often.
Doughty was Doughty. Happy to have him, but if he's in the starting lineup, the offensive coordinator knows where to go on the field in the passing game.
Getting Landry back will give the Redskins an impact player at the position, but he won't fix the weakness at the position.
Good stuff. I had assumed he played well since it seemed their down field passing game was pretty limited.
I predict market saturation. Coming next week; Dirt's bag o' dirt, Matty's Caddies, Ruh the Day, Tripp's Rips, Quakes Shakes.
Kinda how everyone and their monther has a blog these days? lol
Eh, I disagree. It was two touchdowns.
I thought we were overall disappointing in the first half, but the second half was a work of art for a Redskins fan. It was a great half against any team, but the Giants aren't just any team. Depleted on defense or not, they're one of the toughest wins in the NFL. And we really took it to them.
Agreed. A 14 point win over a division rival that has pretty much owned us the past several years should be celebrated.
skinsguy 09-12-2011, 09:59 AM This is the way I see things: no matter what the situation is, who's out, who's in, it's NFC East football. It seems like no matter how good we are, the Giants always seem to traditionally play pretty well against us even if it's just for a half. Let's keep in mind that it's going to take a few games for this offensive line to gel into one cohesive unit. I didn't like how much pressure Grossman faced, but he played pretty well and made the big plays when the 'skins needed them. I would also like to see Armstrong become a little more aggressive when catching the ball. There are going to be times throughout the season where he is going to have to wrestle the ball away from the defender - can't expect to just catch the passes that are non-contested.
Still, we beat the Giants and we have our first victory of the NFC East. Let's not downplay that fact.
skinsfan69 09-12-2011, 10:06 AM What the hell is up w/ Gano? Had a great pre season and comes out and misses a 39 yarder??? C'mon Gano. Plus you costed me 3 in fantasy!
Chico23231 09-12-2011, 10:42 AM 1. Oline protection was inconsistent, with bad beats on Silverback, Lichingwhatever, and Brown
2. Saftey play was horrible
3. Like to run the ball inside more with our guys, and think we could have.
4. Really bad drops by Armstrong and Gaffney...and the bonehead didnt get both feet down by Gaffney was a mental mistake.
Overall not bad...the second half was probably the best effort by the team in awhile. Really proud of the play by Rex and the entire defense.

I thought the refs blew that call on Gaffney. The only question to me was if his foot was on the line before the catch and even that wasn't enough to overturn it to me.
Swarley 09-12-2011, 11:13 AM Atogwe isn't a weakness. He just has the same problem as our other safeties: that he's not adept in coverage. He usually isn't the one getting picked on by the opponent because he doesn't bite double moves like a double cheeseburger. But that alone does not make a player great in coverage.
ah ok, makes sense.
mlmpetert 09-12-2011, 11:19 AM Im not sure if this has been mentioned but i was kind of like what the hell happened when Paul and Banks had a little bit of a mis communcation after a Gaints punt.
We had the Giants pined deep and they had to punt it out of their endzone so the punter had to kick it as far as he could and didnt really have the option to kick it away from Banks or out of bounds. It would of been nice if Banks was able to run it back but him and Paul kind of both acted like they didnt know what to do. Its great seeing teams scared to kick it to Banks but they have to make the most of his chances when he has them.
