Fair enough. I should give the guy some credit, but I don't want to crown him just yet.
I also take the 300-400 yard games with a grain of salt, since everyone is putting them up. I have heard some interesting theories about how a lockout could actually help offenses. Limited contact practices were a by-product, which hurts defenses due to minimal full contact reps. Not saying that is a fact, but interesting theory.
W/out question the defenses are just awful. Throwing for 300 yards isn't a big deal anymore. But still, Newtown made some great throws yesterday and 2 of those picks were just outstanding plays by Woodson.

It's been 5 games now for Cam and he continues to prove idiots like me wrong... Seriously
10 Total Tds and 1600 passing yards is incredible for a 22 year old rookie.

I think Cam fell into the right situation. Small market team with not many expectations due to the team being in full on rebuild mode. Even if they have a losing record this year, with another round of draft picks and free agency (and avoiding the sophomore slump), the Panthers can become in the NFC South next year.

Good situation or not, rookie QBs did not throw for yards at the pace Newton is throwing at. Sure, some of it is his coordinator being really good, but the QB has to still make plays, and Newton has been making them.
Besides, I think Carolina looked really bad because of poor QB play and their prior offense being rather simplistic. The rest of the team might not have been THAT bad talentw-se. They now have a more dynamic offense and seem to have found their QB.

If I were Clausen I wouldn't buy a house in Charlotte right now.

I guess I was talking more in regards to the off the field. Because of the whole scandal involving his dad, he was pretty much under a microscope throughout the end of his college career and during the offseason. Had he gone to a big market team, he would have continue to be under that microscope, and who knows how that would have affected him.
Newton has a ton of ability and is very gifted physically. He has obviously shown the commitment that many pundits thought he would not. And I feel that being in a small market has freed him from some of the outside pressures and allow him to focus on the game.

I'll eat another slice of Cam Crow pie, but I'm not really going to believe anything until about year 2 or 3. I'd say the same thing with any QB really. I think the real test will be the last half of this season or the first half of next. New coach, offense, so there isn't game tape on them. Yet.

I don't think the spotlight gets much hotter then not only being a SEC QB at Auburn but being in national spotlight for pay for play scandal while en route to an undefeated national championship season.
I'm gonna wager a wild guess and say that Cam handles pressure pretty okay.
Cam has definitely far surpassed my expectations of what I thought he could do right away as a rookie. He's far more polished as a QB than I expected. Carolina seems to have a bright future with him.
