And Johnson couldn't get along with Vermeil........do you think Gibbs would trade for this kind of guy............. :rolleyes:

He missed 1 and a half games he was benched in favor of Bett's, I guess the coaches felt running the ball was a little more important than the occasional block.


That was the Pittsburgh game and if you remember that correctly neither of our backs could run the ball well!!!

Betts had 8 carries for 34 yards and Portis had 6 carries for 17 yards. So that is 14 carries for 51 yards against the #1 run D in the NFL at the time.

Also do you remember the 7 points the Ravens scored off of us due to Betts missing a blitzing Ed Reed and then took a piss poor angle to try to tackle him.

The whole thing with Vermeil and Johnson was blown out of proportion. When Vermeil said it was time to take the diapers off, he wasn't trying to imply that Johnson was problematic, he just meant it was time for the young player to step up and contribute. I'm sure he wishes he worded it differently because the media ate it up and ran with it making a lot of drama out of nothing.
