Redskin P,
How many touchdowns did Portis have, not many. One spectacular run on the first play from scrimmage. A bruising up the middle back is much more the style runner we need. Those 1,300 yards certainly weren't given to him he had an incredible number of carries.
With the game on the line in the 4th quarter and we're down at the 5 yard line I don't think Portis makes it in.

I hear where you coming from DJ, but part of the problem was the o-line. You can't blame Portis if he doesn't have any holes to run through..

Portis had 15 and 14 in his 2 seasons in Denver. I'm sure those weren't all from 20 yards out. He has to be doing something right.
This talk of Portis not running hard, not gaining the tough yards, etc., is just nonsense.
He had a ton of carries this year behind a very average offensive line and he held up very well under the circumstances.
How many games did he have with 30+ carries?
He's a tough guy for someone his size and I'm really confused over these claims that he lacks heart and determination.
If this "trade Portis" talk is going to last all offseason I think I just might shoot myself.

Matty, you better get that gun ready LOL
One good game by a backup and all of a sudden we should deal away a 23 year old RB with two 1500+ yard seasons and one 1300 yard season.
What a joke.

Remember fellas/ladies that we gave up a ton to get him and he hasn't 'saved' the franchise. We got ripped on the deal for sure. A cover corner is much harder to come by then a quality runner. Every year Denver produces a runner that gets a ton of yards.
What I saw yesterday is the type of running that I'ld expect from a Gibbs team.

I didn't know he was supposed to "save" our franchise. I thought Gibbs was supposed to do that.
What I saw yesterday was our backup running back going up against one of the worst defenses in the entire league.

I'm not sure how we "got ripped" on that deal. With our not-up-to Bailey-standards CB's, we had the number three defense in the league, number one in the conference. As a team we got six more INT's than Denver. And that stiff we picked up got 1300 yards, despite taking the last game off.
You can argue that Portis didn't live up to billing. I think the entire offense was a disappointment, not just #26.

Brudleee,
Yes indeed the entire offense was a disappointment. A straight trade and I wouldn't think we got ripped but we also gave up a draft pick. Having to change blocking schemes and the like to fit him makes me believe that Portis really doesn't fit the Gibbs style offense
