How much does your spouse know about football?

Reading the latest "Getting Married" thread made me think about this. Most of us probably has a spouse that doesn't care/know much about football. I was just curious about people's experience with this. Here is mine:

My wife is really not much of a football fan, and like many wives dislikes the beginning of the football season...a bit. But I have to give her credit, since she's come around a bit and toned down on her dislike of football. I think a lot of her dislike came from not understanding the sport. So I've actually taught her a bit about football, but I try to be funny about it (i.e. explain to her that a nose tackle is a big fat f*ck that takes on two offensive linemen, etc., etc.). She now watches some games with me, especially during the preseason. So I can't really complain about my situation. Although sometimes I do have to payback and sit through an episode of Project Runaway or something like that.

My wife hates football. The only time she was remotely interested was when she saw Jason Taylor standing on the sidelines and started to drool. Even taking her down to the sidelines, sitting in the production truck, meeting players does nothing for her.

She pust up with my sports life every day though so if she doesn't want to watch the game with me, it's just as well. I prefer that she go off and do her thing while I watch the game than bother me. Unlike her mother, who thinks she knows everything about football and thinks we're football buddies, yet she really knows less than a 1/3 of what she does.

Oh that's the worst. Doesn't just apply to MIL's, but people in general. I hate having a football related conversation with someone and then someone else comes up and butts in with a stupid remark like, "Talking bout the Redskins huh? They'll never be good with Mark Brunell at quarterback (That convo took place in 2010)."

According to her "it's game with men in tights with possible homosexual tendencies." I am working overtime to convince her otherwise. Me saying "football is like ballet only on grass" this past thursday wasn't helpfull.

I got her "Complete Idiots Guide to Foodball" by JT about two years ago and she has yet to read more than the first page. I am on the verge of giving up on educating her and trying to get her to be interested in football.

My wife will watch it if there's nothing else to do, but she doesn't really care. But she knows a fair amount by osmosis. If shown a helmet she can identify the team it belongs to. She knows most of the rules. But she doesn't want to sit down and watch.

She knows more than most men, she's also far less of a Homer than I am so I occasionally have to throw things at her for not siding with me on bad calls and the like.

Her Dad took her to all the UCLA games from a young age, lucky lady.

My wife is pretty damn into football. Not nearly like me of course but she knows the rules more than basically and has a pretty good handle on the Skins roster most of the time. She also bought me season tickets 5 years ago and went to plenty of games with me in the past. Outside of the rare super-football wife I doubt there are many that get into it like my girl.

Maybe just as important a question, if your wife is not into football, do you wish she was?
