Where does D. Hall rate as a CB for the Redskins all time? That Guy 08-28-2011, 01:22 AM springs is a true #1 and was great for us until he started missing games. jamf 08-28-2011, 03:34 AM (recent) Green Bailey Jimoh Dishman Springs I think DHall is tremendously overrated. He is a gambler and is exceptional at reading plays but no one can tell me that they would want him to shadow a #1 WR all game. When was the last time he shadowed a solid WR and took him out of the game? He hasn't done it in a skins uniform so no freaking way he is on my list. Springs had some battles with TO one on one and won a few of them. He was the last guy we had that could shadow a WR leave him on an island. Well considering we don't have a lot of man coverage's in Haslett's new defense I would say Hall hasn't done a lot of Man coverage over the year. I would say that Hall excels in our new defensive scheme. I'm also excited about Wilson and I think between the two of them. We will have a lot of turnovers this year. Ruhskins 08-28-2011, 03:56 AM This really warrented it's own thread? I thought it was discussed at length in the other thread. Wasn't the conclusion from the other thread that anyone is better then D.Hall? I was pretty sure someone said something like they would have prefered to have kept Rogers and let Hall go. lol. Unfortunately this topic will come up as long as there are people that don't like Hall as a person and b*tch about him every single possible time and those that get all geeked up about his picks and call him the best ever. As I said, here in the Warpath opinions tend to go to the extreme. #56fanatic 08-28-2011, 10:01 AM I am not sure if all time Redskin great is an appropriate word RIGHT NOW. This is his 2nd, 3rd season with us. He is a good corner, but I am not sure he stands out as one of the greats. His completion % against is pretty high, Carlos had better cover numbers. What he does do is bring the ability to gamble and make plays. He doesn't have the ability like a Dieon Sanders to make up for the mistakes. If dieon gambled, he got back into the play with just his pure speed. WHen Hall makes a mistake, it leads to big plays. I think I go Green, Bailey, Springs. Not sure where Hall would fall in Redskins greats though. I am sure there were probably some guys from earlier years that may have made a bigger contribution to the team, I just can't remember them. By the same token...no mention of Vernon Dean? GTripp0012 08-28-2011, 04:23 PM U gotta admitt Tripp that Hall has played some of his best ball here in DC. Is Hall in the top 5 CB all time in DC? I think he has to do a little more to be considered. But he contributed a couple unforgettable moments as a skin...The dallas strip, the J Cutler game and probowl MVP are significant moments. Kinda wish people would celebrate it and not try to bring the guy down. He's made a number of really good plays while he's been here. The play in the first quarter against Baltimore was another really good play. I'm not going to remember him here for his individual great moments, which is a shame, because even guys who had short careers like Antonio Pierce, Lemar Marshall, and Ryan Clark all had a number of great moments here before signing elsewhere. I'd point out that plenty of people have shown an excellent ability to forget Hall's most embarrassing plays as a Redskin, because it simply doesn't match up with their perception of him as a player. Sequences like the Baltimore TD-XP one are also pretty noticeable and unforgettable. But I guess it's easy to just pretend it never happened. |
